Frequently Asked Questions
Characterized by its rounded shape, the Ballon of Alsace is a large horseshoe-shaped summit, covered with vegetation and culminating at 1247 meters of altitude, the vanguard of the Vosges massif.
It is part of the Ballons d'Alsace sub-massif, along with the Ballon of Sevrance, the Planche des Belles Filles and some small peaks such as the Tête Ronde and the Tête des Redoutes.
We advise you to choose a hotel with a view of the Ballon of Alsace, a paradise for hikers in summer and for winter sports enthusiasts.
If the more courageous choose to hike up the slopes of the balloon, the summit is also accessible by car, but whichever you choose, you will enjoy an incredible view of the Vosges, the Black Forest and, weather permitting, the Swiss Alps.
Covered by forests and meadows, the Ballon of Alsace offers its visitors an incredible diversity of fauna and flora and walkers can observe chamois, peregrine falcons and, occasionally, lynxes that populate the region.
Mountain biking, paragliding, cross-country skiing and downhill skiing are also offered to sporty tourists.
