Heartwarming welcome. Lovely clean quiet hotel, tasty breakfast. Possibility of going to eat at the Voltaire restaurant where the welcome is just as charming and where you eat very good food at a very reasonable price. The possibility of parking your car nearby is a real plus.

Excellent in every way! Dont hesitate to book.The Hotel location, team and cleanliness and rooms are fantastic. The outstanding reception and management team of Mélanie, Sharon Lana and the others showed great organization and caring of guests. As a tour guide I can say that they were all working at optimal levels. Every interaction I had with the thelmwas positive and I saw that with the other guests too. The hotel is very centrally located, It was a delight to be a 1 minute walk away from the quaint "main street" rue Nationale which is a charming 16th century lane lined with boutiques and bakeries, fine food shops restaurants and more..he breakfast it was amazing, with local cheese, jams and patisserie and local apple juice. The castle of Amboise is a 7 minute walk from the hotel and the tourism office half a block away. All in all I was very happy with hotel Chaptal.

My stay at the hotel Chaptal in Ambroise is very disappointing because: No elevator and room on the 2nd floor by a steep staircase. Attic room with beams in the middle of the bathroom, very narrow shower with almost no water pressure. The 2 beds arranged in a T because impossible to put side by side! Curtain 30 cm from the window so it is impossible to block out the light. Etc., etc. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

The buffet in the restaurant is not refrigerated and protected from flies!! Hygiene was not there. . The rest of the meal was very plain.

We liked everything about this hotel. The staff were a pleasure to meet and talk to. They all did an excellent job. The room was well organized and up to date with a great air conditioner. Breakfast was excellent in all regards. The storage facility for bicycles was and is by far the best we have encountered on numerous cycling trips in France. It was large, clean, well-lit, secure and equipped with pumps, some tools, and a large number (>14!) of plugs for charging electric bikes. We look forward to our next stay!

Totally outstanding. Far exceeded expectations. Wonderful attention to detail. Welcoming atmosphere. Best continental breakfast my wife and I have ever had. Artistic environment. It is a very small place - three bedrooms for guests. The night we stayed there, there were only two sets of guests and we were each given separate dining rooms for breakfast so that we were completely on our own. No canned music. I simply cannot recommend this place highly enough. There is parking to the rear of the hotel. The entrance is not wide and getting your car in is a bit tight but once in the parking is absolutely fine. Veronique is a delightful and obliging host.

Pleasant room with however a lack of storage. Very good bedding. The niche in height is not very practical for storing clothes. The downside is the noise. We hear all the movements of people in the corridors and also the discussions of people in the neighboring rooms...

Room a bit small but very clean and pretty. The breakfast buffet is complete and well stocked

No need to call the hotel in advance if you have a particularity for your stay, this will not be taken into account and you will be sent unwelcome messages the day before your arrival for fear of losing a possible supplement during the pre-authorization. The welcome by an off-leash mastiff is charming when you arrive with your dog. Plan the flashlight in room 2 because you will not have light once lying down. The cleanliness in the shower and bathroom leaves something to be desired.

Once again, Booking customers are the most poorly housed. moreover, public car park about 500m away, parking impossible in rue Chaptal. Room n°25 on the 2nd floor, under the eaves, without lift, winding staircases, people with difficulties, to be avoided. The worst, the bathroom: cramped, lighting mirror washbasin inoperative, smell of sewage, and one of the 2 openings of the shower screen which fell on us while trying to close it, not surprising because a roller was missing. The reception granted us a commercial gesture and must pass on our remarks.

Very disappointing experience. The room was not heated. When I reported it after a night at about 16° nobody did anything so that I could work for a few hours at at least 19°. It seems that this problem was due to a failure of the radiators in the room I occupied.

Renovated hotel with pleasant and warm common areas. But disappointment for the room. We had taken the "comfort" room formula with breakfast Cleanliness at the rendezvous, but tiny bathroom (less than 1 meter wide, space more than reduced therefore between the door and the sink) .. Access to the room at the 2nd without elevator, by a narrow staircase (but there was a second wider one). Insufficient soundproofing, we could understand the conversation of the roommate. No central heating but presence of an electric radiator. Decent breakfast. Meal taken in a partner restaurant with 5% discount.

Hello, For a 3 star, the insulation is quite average. You can hear a lot of people walking above. The room was also very small but probably the cheapest in the hotel (65€). Very good breakfast (super jam) but at 15e in a room without charm. The hotel is very clean.

Room and bathroom very small but clean. Simple, functional facility. Good, not too soft mattress. Breakfast room narrow and with the ambience of a company canteen. Parking not directly at the hotel, but also easy to use for larger cars. However, the gate was unlocked the whole time due to a defect. Unfortunately no possibility to stop directly in front of the hotel, not even for a short time. When trying to connect via WLAN, all devices complained about a security certificate that had expired months ago. The laptop eventually got online, but our iPhones refused to connect.

We were on 3rd floor and the room was very small, shower even smaller. If you are large, you won’t like the shower. No elevator, so a good hike up. That being said, location was great, right around the corner from the main quaint area, and the price was very reasonable. The ceiling was slanted on my side of the room, but I’m short, so not a deal breaker, but the window was high, so I couldn’t see out. How to hook up to the wireless several times while using, but the people were very nice, and they have a fabulous large white boxer that is the owners and it is very sweet.

The room was very good, communication about the fact that it was small was very well done beforehand so no bad surprises. Lots of very nice little touches like the cloth for the shoes, the make-up remover pads. The only problem encountered is the lack of good manners of our room neighbors who allow themselves to let the doors slam all night and very early in the morning. I don't know if the bellboys on the doors are a good thing….

Very disappointing hotel. Staff very nice and attentive, but this hotel does not deserve the 3 stars advertised. Holes and stains on the sheets of the cot requested in the room. Bathroom more than outdated, acoustics of places leaving something to be desired. Dirty bathroom, non-existent wifi signal, rear view on a flat roof. No possibility of opening the frame in tilt and turn so not reassuring to leave the window wide open knowing that it overlooks a flat roof, accessible via a door no other people. Complicated circulation in the hotel, many stairs and half-level: it is not announced and especially not practical with a stroller and a child and to top it off, there is a dog in the hotel. This "little" detail should be announced to customers. Not everyone is comfortable with animals and the fact that a dog is free in the hotel and therefore in the breakfast room is neither reassuring nor hygienic. However, I thank the staff who listened to my fear and tried somehow to keep the dog "apart", but this is not normal. A pet has no place in freedom in a hotel or at least, this must be announced so that fearful people can not book this hotel if necessary. In the positive points, it is also necessary to underline the location as well as the bedding which is quite good.

The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful. A few blocks from Amboise's shopping area, the castle, and the Loire River. Excellent breakfast for the price, with lost of choices. AC in the room was great to have as it was around 95 when I was there.

Bien ubicado. Amabilidad del personal. Que hubiese parking aunque fuese de pago. La habitación, aunque muy pequeña, tenia lo necesario si estás una noche, máximo dos. Detalles de bienvenida en la habitación: té, café, caramelos, agua…La cama hacía bajada hacia el lado izquierdo te caías hacia ese lado. Respecto al tamaño de la habitación, ya sabíamos que era pequeña al reservar, pero te das con el regulador del radiador, cada vez que entras o sales de la cama, por ejemplo. Quizá es demasiado pequeña. Sin embargo, para una o dos noches está muy bien, comparando con otros de la zona y la relación calidad-precio.

Our boat was 3 hours late and we arrived after the closing of the reception. The young man on duty went the extra mile and actually waited until we arrived. This was much appreciated.

One night stay between 2 castles and visit of the city, the welcome and the service were the strong points of the hotel! It's located very well. Parking and luggage service helped us a lot for the visit of the city. The bathroom was a little cramped, that's the only noticeable downside.

Good stay and very good location of the hotel in the center of Amboise, which allows you to visit the city without using your car. The asking price of 10 euros per day for parking is a bit high as is the price of breakfast at 12.50 euros!!

Enjoyed my stay at Chaptal. It has a great location and there is lots of free parking nearby. I was pleased to see there was a little library and Rick Steves France was available which was great and the support staff where helpful too. The beautiful white dog was very lovely and is one of those things that helps you remember the experience!
