Beautiful establishment, good welcome. However, the room was small because a 3-seater sofa, in my opinion unnecessary, cluttered the space; left side of the bed much too close to the window panel and its curtains!!

Nice hotel with great dinner experience
It was the restaurant that guided our choice. we had a shared experience (overcooked Turbot main course and unsophisticated side dish for a bib gourmand). The price of the room is high compared to the bedding. (measurement taken on other rooms at this rate in more opulent places). Room with pleasant private garden. Room size and equipment good. Bedding: poor quality mattresses. perfect cleanliness. excellent breakfast, lots of choice, local and fresh products, salty and sweet. Very good value for money. a suggestion, it is a good idea at this price to add some raw vegetables (tomato or broccoli style) for diabetics.
Given the relatively high room prices, I had always expected something a little bigger. The only thing missing for breakfast was some vegetables (tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, herbs).

This establishment is popular with the whole family. A stay at the Relais de l'Abbaye is always a moment of conviviality because of the welcome given to us, the quality of its catering, and the comfort of the rooms. Too bad the heating is a bit noisy.

I come to the region at least once a year and have been staying at the Relais de l'Abbaye for over four years. Always smiling welcome, good quality of services. I noted in my first comment that the bells for the dishes in room service were missing: they are there now. We take customer opinions into account, that's good.

Always a real pleasure to stay at this hotel. The hotel is very well made, from the quality of the bedding to the size of the really spacious rooms. The decor is sober and modern at the same time, just like the dining room which is stunning when you enter the elegant and bright veranda with a view of nature. The service and staff are incredibly professional, helping to create a very pleasant atmosphere. The cuisine is top notch, the flavors and taste are always there, whatever dish you choose. Beautiful, careful, generous plates made from fresh products wonderfully worked by the chef. The establishment is recommended by Bib Gourmand and it is largely justified, a very nice address.

For a lodge in France with a distinguished table and serving sweetbreads without removing the veil and serving alongside Jaunottes (grilled) with peppers... and without sauce, it would be wise if the chef could intervene,..! (the mushrooms remain like the fish without much cooking,...) For a price of 98 euros (couple) at the restaurant, we expected much better (long live the tourists...). Ladies and gentlemen, wanting to add exoticism to your dishes takes away the reality of French excellence and reduces the pleasure of the mouth... When will the glass of wine with mint, and the cheese with jam... .Stay at what you should be representative of <good food>. Yours sincerely

Good welcome, all the staff are very helpful, attentive to the customer. The breakfast is excellent with homemade or local products. The room is very clean. The only downside is that the bathroom could do with a little updating. At the end of August, dinner was very pleasant, lovely view from the covered terrace and excellent meal.

customer for several years I noticed in 23 a drop in quality a depletion of the menu a very strong increase in prices which are about 20% too expensive with regard to the market in particular the breakfast at 18 euros the rather average room with a obsolete bathtub the price of the verse crozes hermitage at 12 euros .... no in 23 I am disappointed with the abbey of Charlieu and tell you about it ps it is true that the approach is difficult and that perhaps you have months of activity in seminars but it is not by increasing your prices TOO MUCH that you will manage to overcome the difficulties here is my opinion of coasne

Hotel easy to find. Car park. Very friendly welcome. 1st floor room of decent size. Impeccably clean as well as the bathroom. Great breakfast. Very good breads as well as cold meats, cheeses, fruits, pastries etc... 2 very good meals of salmon in gravelax with artichoke hearts. Strawberry rhubarb dessert that could be reduced in sugar. The next evening good langoustine and good foie gras. More reserved on the veal tomahawk a bit overgrown with herbs... And the false Charolais fillets served blue and rare as requested didn't really thrill us. Very good chocolate frozen dessert. But the cream accompanying the white cheese was clearly too liquid. The complicated chel sins by excess in the composition of certain dishes.

This hotel restaurant is a beautiful place, a warm welcome, 5 mins walk from the center of Charlieu, a beautiful air-conditioned room, a breakfast that can satisfy all gourmets with a varied choice, the calm of the place, private parking. Unfortunately, we did not take advantage of the restaurant because the town of Charlieu had organized a very nice night market where we ate but we have good hopes of returning to Charlieu and enjoying it (the restaurant!). I can only recommend.
Pleasant and relaxing setting, excellent catering and very full and varied breakfast with a large selection of fresh fruit. If I go back to this region I will stop there again.
Welcomed by asking us to pay for the room when we arrived, after being questioned about our schedule for the day! I discover that at 56 I must have the face of a thief…. This is a first and therefore a last… The person at the reception should follow a hotel training course….

We stayed here for 2 nights on a half board basis and we were not disappointed. This is a lovely hotel. Very modern. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The bathrooms are well appointed with a bath tub and a very efficient towel rail that warms the room as well as the lovely, fluffy towels. The food is superb and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. The best we've seen in France and we've travelled extensively! The service was super efficient and friendly. The only small point I would like to make is that the plates could have left the kitchen a bit warmer. We would love to visit again.

We had booked a room with a terrace and only got a single room. The price is however to remain the same as the superior room. In addition, the mini bar described in the accommodation ad is particularly disappointing (a simple bottle of water).

Our biggest disappointment is the meal, the value for money was not there. Meal served in the hussar, Dishes served as quickly as they had time to have been cooked after ordering the customer. Everything seemed overpriced and lacked much flavor unless they were served in a cafeteria.
As expressed above, everything is very good for staying in excellent conditions at the Relais de l'Abbaye. Only the breakfast prices for the restaurant and the wine and drinks menu seem a bit high to me. This may encourage a large clientele not to take meals on site. TV reception to be improved.

Hello, We had a pleasant time, but a downside must nevertheless be put on the stay (half board for 7 nights). If the quality of the products in the restaurant as well as the quality of the services do not pose any problem, it should be noted that a not insignificant difference is perceptible between people who come to have a meal for one evening, and people who are in half -pension. Unlike a majority of restaurants, currently, which allow a choice through their menu, here, this is not the case. These are suggestions for weekdays (therefore, no weekend suggestions); Once again the quality of the products and services is not to be questioned. And perhaps more serious, and what shocked us twice, is the moment of the aperitif We asked for an aperitif, then ordered the meal. The aperitif was barely served, the starters were already served. Obligation therefore, to repack the dishes, which makes us look like complainers. In addition, the "appetizers" are different, between boarders and one-night stands. Finally, when there are a lot of "one night" people, the residents find themselves relegated to the dining room instead of being on the veranda. It is a pity that such a difference exists, whereas the boarders are there for several days, and spend proportionally on drinks than the people of one evening. A point of improvement is certain at this level. Otherwise, the meals were delicious, the staff dedicated and friendly.

Really not worth the asking price. They run after you at any time to ask you for your room number or make you sign a voucher as soon as you have ordered a drink. Reminds me of Thai hotels 40 years ago! Afraid that we leave without paying? Rigid and unsmiling staff! Are they aware that during the week they are customers who have worked and driven all day and who yearn for a bit of relaxation? Many similar Logis de France establishments do this very well, but not them Never again for me.

This is not the first time that we have spent a night at the Relais de l'Abbaye thanks to the Michelin guide. It's good, but the price has taken quite a hit (€287 for two, dinner and breakfast included, compared to €232 last year, or a 24% increase, which is still a lot). lunch, €18, is expensive. (50% of the price of a menu). As for dinner, we enjoyed it less than in previous years: has the chef changed? If the quality of table service was good, it is less so than that of the previous, more experienced team.

Nothing more to say super Hotel with a great table and exceptional breakfast
Only one disappointment, the hotel announced a terminal for electric car, in reality it is only a single-phase socket between 220v insufficient to charge a vehicle overnight. We talked about it with the owner who is seriously considering installing an 11kWh three-phase socket which would be a real plus. I finally recharged at the public terminal in the village, about 700 meters from the hotel. Not very comfortable but at least effective.
