    This was a disappointing experience. Hotel le Rivage has seen better days; the furnishings were dated and had certainly seen better days. It was surprising that there was no lift, I wonder how the hotel manages to accommodate disabled guests.
    The breakfast was plentiful in the variety of foods offered but there was no English breakfast tea; there was a huge variety of exotic teas but English breakfast is popular and not just for British guests - come on! In addition, here was only 1 viennoiserrie, though reasonable numbers of croiissants.
    It was surprising to see the morning desk staff wearing only informal washed denim shorts with frayed hems and loose fitting top. I acknowledge that the current heatwave makes work challenging but this does not present a professional approach for the tourist industry.
    On arrival, some staff were helpful and found a fan.
    The only 2 person table available had a dirty table cloth.
    Finally, all the above might have indicated a value for money price. In fact, my night at Hotel le Rivage was the most expensive I have spent in a hotel for some time.

    A truly charming hotel; the owners and staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive! Thank you for this wonderful stay. The room was very comfortable, clean, and bright.     A very charming hotel with a stunning view of the Loire. The welcome, both on the phone and in person, was excellent.     Really liked this hotel and would stay again. Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. The bed was really comfortable and immaculate clean bed linen.

    Only let down was the bathroom. It looks like some have been refurbished, but ours hadn't. It was clean but really needed replacing. Also, one of the window shutters didn't open, so it was a bit dark. Overall, though, i would happily recommend this hotel.

    Gien is a nice place and right in the middle of the distance we had to drive back from a funeral. The hotel is a shadow of its former lustre — as many buildings in the town - but it was very adequate with a nice view on the river, friendly staff, free wifi. The bathroom tap was a bit weak but the shower had full force.     With limited options in Gien, we had to decide on the night. Spacious room and quality bedding. Having stayed at this hotel during the hot summer months, air conditioning would not have been a luxury. The decor is a bit dated and the bathroom could use some updating.     We booked a suite for 2 nights at €200 per night. The carpet in the room was not clean. The bathroom 😡the taps were completely rusty and the shower head pipes were broken, held only by the rubber hose. There was no soap in the dispenser, neither in the shower nor in the sink.
