It is in one of the most beautiful sites of the Haute-Corse that we propose you to drop your bags, in a hotel in the heart of the Restonica Valley. Located in the centre of Corsica, the small village of Corte overlooks the valley which stretches as far as the glacial lakes of Capitello and Mello, the source of the Restonica river, at an altitude of 1700 metres. The river flows down the valley in numerous waterfalls and crosses a forest of Scots pine. The whole site is protected because of the remarkable biodiversity of its fauna and flora, a real paradise for hikers and nature lovers who can observe golden eagles, Corsican pigeons, nuthatches and many species of butterflies.you can however take the only steep road to cross the valley and reach the Grotelle sheepfolds which are still in activity. You can enjoy a unique view of the surrounding peaks. The site of the sheepfolds is also a starting point for hiking trails that allow you to reach the glacial lakes and the Upper Restonica Valley. On your way back to Corte, be sure to visit the town's Citadel, which houses the regional museum of anthropology of Corsica, as well as the birthplace of Joseph Bonaparte, the Emperor's elder brother.
