The hotel is conveniently placed and attractive in its situation.
The staff were universally welcoming and helpful. Our room in the annex was satisfactory for our needs , an overnight stay.
The evening meal was excellent, providing us with an original and most enjoyable,well priced meal.

A warm welcome and a lovely, quiet room in a guesthouse right in the city center. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning. A varied breakfast was served in a pretty room. We also had dinner there and enjoyed an excellent sweetbread! Thank you.

One minor drawback: no ventilation in the bathroom. Breakfast was disappointing considering the quality of the food. We would have preferred fresh products (bread, pastries, cold cuts, and cheeses) rather than processed items, such as the excellent Langres cheese. It's also a shame not to be able to have breakfast on the terrace.

Pleasant and ideally located

Overall, very good. Two points to note, however: no air conditioning in the room (a fan, but it's noisy!) and the hotel reception is only open from 5:00 PM (on Wednesdays), which wasn't clearly indicated during the booking process.

Altogether a very good experience from start to finish. The hotel is well located within easy reach of all the interesting sites in Langres. The staff are helpful, friendly and efficient. The hotel is clean and aesthetically pleasing throughout. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant and the breakfasts were also good. Our room was comfortable and quiet.

An enjoyable overnight stay in a 16th Century Hotel. The service from all the staff was excellent as was the evening meal, the breakfast was continental. We arrived in the July/August heatwave having booked on recommendation from friends who had stayed earlier in the year, the only down side was the lack of air-con in the bedroom due to the age of the building, but the fan moved the air around sufficiently for us to get a good nights sleep.

Terrific conversion of an old church to make quirky rooms. One downside is that there is no air conditioning.
The two meals we had in the restaurant were fabulous.
Garage parking is tight especially for SUV.

Very small room and cheaply furnished

We have such a lovely stay. They looked after us from start to finish and were very accommodating to our two kids 1.5 and 3 years old. The food is excellent. We would definitely stay again.

Perfection

We were placed in what was called an "Annex" - a separate building across the road from the hotel. No outlook other than a light well. Very poor ventilation-just provided with a fan to blow the already hot air in the poorly ventilated room. No staff in the building. Altogether not what we were made to believe we had booked for a pleasant two night stop at the end of our holiday.

Two-night stay. Excellent restaurant, very clean rooms, new but rather noisy equipment and furnishings (doors slamming in the morning). A few minor drawbacks: - air conditioning would have been appreciated at this time of year, even though two fans had been provided. - difficult access and maneuvering in the parking lot - being woken up at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday morning by two or three people on the terrace near the entrance, joking and even singing.

Nice hotel, good quality and service. Not cheap, but good.

The only downside is the lack of a power outlet near the bed, which is inconvenient when you're using a CPAP machine for sleep apnea treatment.

Very clean room and nice staff. Towels were clean but old and tired. Location is very central down a side street. Parking is difficult if no on road parking, I booked garage space but they were reluctant to give it to me and made access prohibitive. Eventually managed to park on the street outside the hotel. Dining area is okay with a lovely terrace, if you are lucky enough to get a table, highly recommend booking if you want to eat on the garden terrace. Cannot comment on the food as I found the menu a bit too pricey, although it was a good breakfast.

the Hotel can't be recommended for disabled people. The parking needs a walk of 15 minutes. Too long for crutches.

As always, the food was excellent and very tasty.

We have been returning to this establishment regularly for many years and are always warmly welcomed. It is a valuable stop for us between Belgium and Switzerland.

The hotel met our expectations and the dinner was excellent. There was some confusion over a parking space in the garage, which I thought was booked, but didn’t show up on their computer. I had to show the receptionist the confirming email before he agreed to let me have the space. He was very helpful in showing me where to park and helping me to get into the very difficult space without hitting anything, but I never saw him smile, which didn’t feel very welcoming. The female receptionist was more friendly.

The Diderot restaurant deserves special praise.

A wonderful experience in a hotel housed in beautifully renovated historic buildings, right in the heart of Langres city center. The overnight package (dinner, overnight stay, and breakfast) is very attractive and convenient.

Cosy & quit hotel

It is a very pleasant hotel with good service and cute personnel for hotel, breakfast and dinner. The menues very excellent! It is my second visit already, surely not the last. Thanks to the team.

Unfortunately, the rooms are a bit dated. The toilet flush didn't work properly and had to be repaired by the guest. The toilet drain was very dirty, but it was cleaned the following day. The window shutter was broken on our first visit – the strap was just hanging loosely from the wall.

We visit this hotel for many years, and enjoy staying there half way our destiny.the breakfast and restaurant are excellent, the rooms pleasant, some members of the staff should try to be a little bit more friendly. It proved to be difficult to contact the hotel by telephone, a point to keep in mind. It ised to be much more easier.

Good evening stopover. It's a shame that parking is becoming increasingly difficult.

Very comfortable hotel

The lady at reception was not friendly at all, and showing us the place for the car in the garage even VERY unkind.

Please inform your guests that the main hotel building, including the restaurant, is complemented by another building located opposite. Especially in winter and in the rain...it's a shame to have to go back outside and cross the street for dinner and breakfast...not very comfortable.

We stayed here twice for one night, with one week in between. Both times the staff gave us an unwelcome feeling. Not a smile or friendly word, very little words all together.

In both the rooms we stayed in the water for the shower / bath in the room got lukewarm at best but sometimes even went just cold.

The rooms were neat and clean and the food was good.

It is a nice hotel in the heart of Langres, the reception, room and restaurant have a great ambiance, the dining experience is really good, the beds and room very comfortable. Very friendly welcome

The receptionist was incredibly kind and helpful when it became clear I had booked for the wrong night - 1 day later. My heart sank and marginal panic set in as I wondered what I would do with my elderly parents, my two children and dog for the night! Luckily for me, there was just one family room left, so the receptionist calmly moved my booking, showed me to the room and told me I could now relax. Great facilities, lovely bedding and everything we needed, but most importantly for me the amazing young lady who saved my day! Thank you and we will happily return (on the right day!) 😃

Certainly a good and afordable place for a stay in Langres . Room access could be problematic for people with handicap,at least for the upper level.

I come at this hotel since 1989 and the quality is always good. Good hospitality, Nice room, good food. I recxomend it as a very nice stay for travellers.

The rooms are very well appointed. The meals are excellent and the staff is really friendly and attentive to the customer. In addition, the establishment is located in the city center, which makes it easy to visit this historic city on foot.

The room was quiet, comfortable and very clean. We liked the original stonework and tasteful design.

Lovely hotel with helpful and attentive staff. Parking can be interesting if you don't book ahead but there's room to unload your car at the front of the hotel and several public car parks are not too far away.

This is a very old hotel. We stayed in the annex where it was very quiet. The bedding was very good, the bathroom and toilet were functional but a little old. The staff was super nice, friendly, and efficient! The meal was far superior to most of the restaurants we frequented and for a reasonable price. Overall, the short stay was very successful.

Great place to stay on our first night as we travelled south through France. Nice room with comfortable bed, in a peaceful part of town but only just off the main street; an ideal location. Great breakfast. Parking is available at extra cost in a secure garage at additional cost, but is also available easily for free on the roads around.

The narrow streets of the hilltop fortress of Langres had my satnav fooled for a while but once I worked out where we were and found the place all went well. In the perfect location in a jewell of an ancient city, we found the hotel's personnel friendly and efficient and our Premium Double was above expectations for a three star hotel. Spotlessly clean throughout and tastefully decorated. Excellent bistro restaurant well-managed by the expert Maître D and his team, serving a well-prepared and presented menu. Very happy all round.

We always stay at the Cheval Blanc when we want to celebrate an anniversary or birthday or any occasion which we want to make a special one. It never fails to match our expectations. The staff are very warm and welcoming, and in the restaurant Michel directs the staff with great professionalism. The menu changes regularly and quality of the food and its presentation are excellent. The rooms in the main hotel or across the road in the Annex are spacious and very well-appointed. The beds comfortable and a good sleep is guaranteed. We've never used the onsite parking, but prefer instead to use the free public parking 300m away. Access to Langres couldn't be easier with Place Diderot and the Cathedral a few steps away. Another memorable stay. It's why we return again and again.

The staff is just wonderful at the hotel.

The surprise highlight of our stay was the dinner in the restaurant.

No check-in before 5 p.m. In the annex, the front door slams constantly. My room had a view of a wall. Clean and comfortable. Refined restaurant and quality breakfast.

Nice room, good food, but tourists were offered a bottle of San Pelegrino and charged for it, while French couples received a free carafe of water. It wasn't just me who noticed it, but the German and Dutch couples as well. It's not the price (€6.90) that matters here, but the feeling of being ripped off as a tourist.

Super verblijf gehad in Hotel du Cheval Blanc. We verbleven in het bijgebouw. De kamer was keurig netjes en schoon.
Personeel heel vriendelijk.
Diner is goed met heerlijke wijnen, in een erg sfeervolle setting buiten.

The temperature in the room was over 30 degrees Celsius and there was mo way we could cool it. The fan in the room wasn’t sufficient. We strongly recommend to install air conditioners

A very friendly welcome and easy check-in. The room and bathroom were clean, everything as you would expect. The reserved parking space was available, and the breakfast was OK. The staff were friendly and helpful.

A very nice hotel with lovely ambiance, nice rooms, comfortable beds, spacious showers and a very friendly staff. It’s conveniently located in Lamgres’ town center, parking next to the hotel was easy, even though there was no room for our car in the garage (we didn’t reserve a spot there, would do that next time).

Comfortable hotel in a pleasant location; very warm welcome.

I had relatively recently had an operation on my knee, so the steep stairs to the bedrooms were a challenge, and I could see older customers were struggling.
The only toilet seemed to be upstairs ( by our bedroom = No5) and it seems as if there was a lift via the restaurant .... however the dining table we were allocated was blocking the access and so, effectively, there was no access via the lift.
It also had a very small notice on it, and seemed to say for wheelchair users only.

In the bedroom, there was a coffee machine and tea bags were available, but we were not keen to try using the coffee machine to provide hot water for the tea.

However, the food was FANTASTIC - thank you

The food on the menu sounded good, and the presentation was good, but everything was either tasteless or just something salty. Some of the green vegetables were inedible. The welcome canapé was tapenade but sloppy and tasteless. And the amuse bouche was something creamy and savoury but couldn’t tell you what it was!
We couldn’t have enjoyed a meal less.

Hotel Cheval Blanc in Langres We spent a night at the Hotel Cheval Blanc in Langres on our way to the south of France and were thrilled. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were extremely friendly, flexible and spoke both English and French, which made communication very pleasant. Our room was rather small, but well-equipped, quiet and clean - very nice for a restful night. The breakfast was excellent with fresh, high-quality products. We would particularly like to recommend dinner in the hotel's own restaurant. We spent a night at the Hotel Cheval Blanc in Langres on our way to the south of France and we were delighted. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were extremely friendly, flexible and spoke both English and French, which made communication very pleasant. Our room is very small, with plenty of equipment, calmness and propriety – ideal for a comfortable night. Good experience with this hotel which also has an excellent restaurant and pleasant and competent staff. Small downside the bathtub shower which presents a certain danger and a good but improvable breakfast, no hot food.

Incorrect bill. Although we had a half-board option, two menus were added! Corrected after comment. Front room...just above the "smoking room" terrace and chatter in the evening. Roaring kitchen hoods...fortunately not at night!

The hotel is nice, with large rooms and good parking. But too bad the cleaning left much to be desired. Hair in the bathroom, the walls in the separate toilet area downright dirty and a broken toilet roll holder. Toilet roll on the toilet brush. Very unhygienic. Receptionist and breakfast lady very nice. Restaurant staff during the day disinterested.

It was a nice stay, but the experience in the restaurant could have been much better. The service was kind of slow and a bit unpersonal, although the quality of the food was nice.

Pleasantly surprised by this small, elegant hotel with character. You'll sleep well and enjoy the quiet location right in the center of Langres, which is definitely worth a visit. You'll also enjoy excellent food in the attached restaurant.

The parking spaces are very tight, and it takes a lot of time to maneuver in and out. In the past, a hotel employee always did this for you. Now, you have to do it yourself. A hotel employee did help with parking, but since we weren't familiar with the tight spaces, parking was very inconvenient. Overall, though, we were very satisfied. Very good food, very attentive and friendly service.

Perfect location for me, who likes to be in the heart of a charming little town when I travel. The hotel restaurant is particularly well decorated, unfortunately I didn't test the quality of its cuisine. The parking, dug into the rock (2 small spaces) is not easy. Be aware! Thank you for providing rectangular pillows (much) better than square ones. Charming staff. I will come back.

Everything was very good - the way I was received and shown to my room. The dinner was excellent and the bedroom was adequate for the price I paid but not sure it would come under the "Elegance" heading even if the public areas I was in were "elegance" standard.
Hotel was easy to find and in the town centre but there are steps up to the main entrance and reception and also my room was in a building across the street with narrow stairs and corridors to my room. There is a disabled lift up to the reception for those that cannot take the steps.

Net hotel, gelegen op een rustige plek in Langres. We had to have two cameras in the hotel at the same time, but we did not have enough cameras in the hotel, but we did not do that. Bij het afrekenen en noticeerde de receptioniste dat we een goedkopere kamer hadden gehad dan geboekt, en rekende vervolgens toch de hogere prijs af the bij de boeking was aangegeven - odd.

Chambre spacieuse et confortable. Le bâtiment est ancien, mais décoré avec goût. Tout n'est pas d'équerre et horizontal, mais ce n'est pas un problème.
Restaurant agréable et carte de qualité. Les menus sont très bien présentés avec une belle carte des vins.
Le personnel est professionnel, sympathique et très serviable. Nous avons passé un moment agréable.

We were well received in this hotel combining old world charm and modern comfort. A few more hooks in the bathroom would be welcome. Makes you want to come back in the nicer weather.

We keep this hotel for circa 25 years and last 2 days per year. You will be able to contact us and we will receive telemedicine over the service. We had a very large room in the annex, large bathroom with double sink and large shower, excellent food in the restaurant and top service. No parking at the hotel but luckily there was a spot in the alley.

Wonderful room and restaurant

My poor review overall is all about the room we were put in. We were keen to stay in the hotel building itself (it was pouring with rain and we didn't want to be crossing the road to the annexe all the time), and were put in a room which I can only describe as basic and disagreeable - a weird glass panel between the bedroom and bathroom, which meant that there was no privacy. And the bed was extremely hard. Worst of all, we were directly above the kitchen, and deliveries started around 4am (noisily) and continued about hourly, preventing any continuity of sleep. An experience not to be repeated.

Dark room with a window overlooking a courtyard of 1.5x3 m. Opening on the second floor but too small to light the bedroom on the first floor, so it is necessary to turn on the lights during the day. Small and unconfirmed room. Not possible to see if it is priche because insufficient light for a check. Very hard mattress, I fell asleep at 5 am and woke up with aches in my back. Charmant hotel in binnenstad. Parkeren in een erg nauwe garage, een hele onderneming. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. In hotel heerlijk gegeten, alleen nauwelijks keuze voor onze 2-jarige kleinzoon. Hotel is ook minder geschikt voor kleine kinderen. Bijzondere kamer, erg leuk, maar badkamer totaal verouderd en miezerige douche. Dit zou voor mij een reden zijn om niet opnieuw te boeken, terwijl Langres ongeveer halverwege onze vakantiereis ligt.

We were very well received, in a neat and very calm setting. We also appreciated the restaurant (great sweetbreads!) and the wine list. We will come back!

Dit hotel biedt een verwenmoment op de weg terug naar huis! Super lekkere wijn gedronken bij een heerlijke maaltijd! De kamer was een verademing!

The location was perfect. We had a fantastic dinner with very good service. The staff was very nice and helpful.

A classic Logis hotel, good location, very good restaurant and good breakfast. Top service, especially in the restaurant. We had a wonderful evening there, the food was exceptional.

Ok overall. The service and people in the hotel/resto make All the difference.

Only real thing for improvement would be a shower rose which was fitted on a sliding rail and thus hands free!
