Idyllic setting, by a pea green, slow flowing river. Fantastic dinner menu, well matched wines, served on the terrace in a very attentive and friendly manner. Comfortable room, with excellent blackout curtains..Tea and coffee in the room. Many choices for breakfast, sweet and savoury, including a range of breads and cakes. Friendly, relaxed staff. Super value for money. We hope to return, soon!

Sad to miss the restaurant (closed on Mondays!) but super breakfast. Would be nice to have the bar open even if the no meals being prepared. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The dinner outside was very fine, and the setting could not be better - rustic but also elegant and tasteful. Please don’t modernise more or change anything! Pleasant atmosphere by the river. Very good and extensive breakfast buffet. The quality of the dinner and the creativity of the kitchen completely exceeded our expectations of a hotel (in the middle of nowhere) - which should actually only be a transit station. We would have liked to have enjoyed the kitchen here a few days longer. The furnishing of the room was too rustic for us - but that is certainly a matter of taste.

Beautiful area. Perfect welcome. Beautiful, quiet place. Long dinner but at the same time when we chose the chef's surprise tasting without knowing 😅 but delicious. Perfect breakfast. The only downside is that with the heat it made the room not air conditioned and the decor could use a facelift. But I recommend.

Quiet, clean, excellent restaurant, relaxing setting

This hotel is in a lovely riverside setting. Reception and breakfast staff very welcoming and competent. The evening meal was a disappointment - excellent quality of meat (veal) ruined by being poorly seasoned and undercooked. Restaurant waiters were "superior" and making simple mistakes - serving across, not keeping up with wine glasses, etc. Not quite the Ritz standard they were trying to achieve. The menu was limited but did not have enough choice for a second night's meal. We will not stay here again.

Superb food and a lovely location.

On our way to south-west France, this is a wonderful overnight stay where we stayed for two days. Half board, with two evenings of culinary delight. The location is very nice, small village with the hotel on the river Vendee.

Tres bien experience

Beautiful inn in a bucolic setting on the banks of the Vendée river. Our room overlooked a terrace by the river. Very comfortable bedding. Breakfast very well presented with quality local products (bread, egg,...). Smiling welcome. A special mention to Domitille who showed a spontaneous kindness to get us out of a bad situation with our car.

A charming stopover. The table is incredible, the rooms (at least the one we had) very comfortable and the hostel is very well located. A real haven of peace facing the river. We are only disturbed by the birds. :)

Room 12 needs a mirror in the bedroom area.

An exceptional meal......Nicolas, the head waiter is very attentive to customers. His involvement and his love of the profession are felt in all the exchanges. The young servers, although in apprenticeship for some, are involved and very helpful. We also congratulated the young woman in charge of cleaning the rooms for the cleanliness of the latter. In summary, an address to recommend for a great time;

This was our third visit to the Auberge de la Riviere and if anything the standard has improved from excellent to even better.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. It is in a beautiful location and makes a perfect short stay. The restaurant food is exceptional and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. We will return!

Les mesures tres strictes art-COVID ont une influencers suf la qualité des prestatie-onderzoek.

Nous revenons chaque année dans cette auberge car nous adorons ce lieu. C'est à mi distance de notre lieu d'habitation et notre lieu de vacances.
L'accueil y est parfait, le lieu est calme et à côté de la rivière Vendée. La table est réputée et classée. Tout y est parfait.

Our experience is based on Room 10. When we arrived there was no parking space, in fact there are only 7-spaces plus one handicapped for 10-rooms and a busy restaurant. The room could not receive WiFi during the evening and 4G reception was also difficult. The bathroom was very nice and well equipped, but the bedroom was uninspired with beds pushed tightly against the walls. A swarm of wasps were busy in the creeper and so we could not open the window. When other guests enter or leave their rooms door slams with a bang.

The chef is clearly brilliant, but in the wrong location. Our table was reserved for 19:30, we chose to sit on the terrace, so the table was prepared for us, and then we were ignored. At 19:45 I went into the restaurant to confirm that we had not been forgotten, I was assured we had not but were unattended for another 10-minutes until the head waiter (of 4) eventually took our order and apologised because he had been taking a reservation from someone for another evening. From 20:00 when our aperitifs arrived, the service and food was impeccable. We chose a bottle of Graves which was also excellent.

The hotels USP is that it is an Auberge by a river, with an excellent chef. Beyond that there is very little to commend, as the village is small and uninteresting. If you do not have a ground floor unit, there is nowhere to sit outside and so you become confined to your room, or a wooden bench by the river.

This chef in a prominent location could be a real gem.
