The hotel is well located and very decent, although a bit dated. The staff are friendly and very accommodating, and the breakfast is plentiful and very varied.
Meets expectations and description
A charming, clean, and comfortable hotel, very close to the city center. The only drawback is the lack of soundproofing, both inside and out, which can be bothersome during peak season if the window is open.
Very pleasant hotel. Beautiful park, quiet room overlooking the park, comfortable, spacious, modern and well-equipped. Close to the city center, parking. Restaurants nearby. Excellent value for money.

Old-fashioned style hotel, although there were a few things that could be improved, I was very satisfied. The peace and quiet was really appreciated. The breakfast was perfect. I would definitely come back.

Really lovely, typical French hotel.
Quick access, 7 km from the A6. On a business trip, I stayed 2 nights. Large free parking. Access to the room via an elevator. The window overlooked a wood. It was hot, but thanks to the air conditioning, I was able to sleep very well. The bedding was very comfortable. The desk was large enough to work at. The bathroom was small, but the shower was a decent size. The room as a whole could use a lick of paint, but was comfortable.

We appreciated the hotel's location, the size of the room, the renovated bathroom, the quietness, and the garden view. The room decor should be updated and the lighting revised. The beds are comfortable.

Noisy and dirty hotel

Hotel was very traditional and well appointed. The room was large by modern day standards and was quiet and the bed extremely comfortable. It had air conditioning. A feature was the extensive grounds to be able to walk around. Ample parking on site. No restaurant but plenty a short walk away.
A welcome break in a relaxing setting with the old-fashioned charm of the 70s and 80s. Very clean, with all the amenities and a full, fresh breakfast. Thank you for your welcome.
The first thing I would say. The receptionist did not speak much English. Also I thought the breakfast was included in the price. think this should be more obvious when booking in. I would not have eaten breakfast every morning I would have gone out sometimes. The hotel was very clean and situated really well to access the town . The breakfast was a high standard of continental style. The lady in attendance was really efficient and very friendly keeping the breakfast room cleared and well filled. The beds were comfortable and well maintained clean towels every day and beds made and room tidied. It would be good to have bottels of water in the rooms I would definitely reccommend the hotel
Room quite large as well as the bathroom The bedding is quite soft for my taste Big downside: only one electrical outlet (poorly placed) to charge only one mobile phone or laptop
The temperature outside was above 30 degrees. Whilst the room had air conditioning it was not cold enough. My partner explained to the proprietor, unfortunately he did not speak English. Eventually he came up to the room to check, he seemed to think it was all ok and we needed to give it time. When my partner touched the control fixed to the wall, the proprietor became very agigated and told my partner off in French and pointing to the remote control. Extremely poor customer service.
The bed was comfortable but the pillows were lumpy and we had sheets and a blanket, something I've not seen in years.

I didn't like not being able to open the window...I would have liked to enjoy the garden air! And the air conditioning wasn't great. But overall we were satisfied with the room and the cleanliness. We had an appointment and had to leave before 7am...too bad, the breakfast smelled good but it was impossible to eat.
Very well located opposite the town center, lots of charm, secure parking, very large and pretty indoor park, good welcome, in short, very good value for money in Avallon
The room smelled badly of staled cigarette smoke. It was hard to breathe even with the windows opened overnight.
The blankets were too old and worn out. They were covered with sheets rather than with douvet covers. That was very unhygienic, as you never know how many people used the blankets before us.
It was difficult to open the room door. It created a lot of noise what definitely disturbed the neighbours in the night.

Perfectly comfortable, quiet, beautiful room, all within a quarter of an hour's walk of the collegiate church for a wedding, it's perfect. I recommend it, you can park in the hotel, it's great.

From Belgium to Auvergne or vice versa, we've stayed at the Cit'Hôtel Avallon Vauban several times, and it's always been perfect! A pleasant and impeccable welcome. The room is always clean and tidy. A peaceful night! The breakfast was delicious and more than adequate.

For my 3 night motorcycle trip it was ideal. Secure parking. Breakfast was traditional and just fine especially at 10 euros. Some decaf coffee would have been be good. Super hot shower 🛀
The rooms were serviced each morning with fresh towels. Its not a 4 star place, but nether is the price. I really liked it there.

Very warm welcome (too rare these days), spacious room, decorated a little old-fashioned but it offers the general setting as well as the charm of the hotel. Extra breakfast with good products. Ample free parking. Hotel very close to the magnificent center of Avallon with its delicious restaurants and green spaces. Only downside, room suffers from humidity, difficult to open the windows because we were on the ground floor overlooking the hotel entrance and the busy street.
