A real scam, a room of less than 9 m² costs more than €100, a single meal charge of €42, which leaves you hungry. Only the €12 breakfasts are valid. Avoid.

Small room and bathroom not very functional. No elevator.

Hostellerie des Ducs is another of our favourite hotels. It's not the cheapest but you certainly get the quality that you pay for.
Conveniently located within barely a minutes walk of the town centre and Chateau ; the hotel is full of character and even has a swimming pool for those hotter days.
We booked The Forge ,which is out of the main building , which has its own entrance and is accessible for those with mobility problems.
Spacious, airy room, with en-suite wet room. Comfortable double bed. Free Wi-fi. Free bottled water and tea and coffee facilities in room.
We couldn't book the Half Board option on line, but Mme Blanchet quickly changed our booking.
The breakfast buffet has a good selection of cold meats, cheese, bread, pastries, cereals, fruit , hot drinks, juices .....and when I enquired about Nutella I was brought out the staffs jar of Bonne Maman Chocolate spread !
Even meals are superb . Great service from the young , attentive staff. A very good choice for the "Half Board" menu ( and they are very accommodating if there is nothing to suit.) Food is delicious , cooked to perfection and excellent presentation . Infact one evening I even told the staff that I had just eaten the best meal of our two and a half weeks in France .Definite compliments to the chef.
This will not be our last visit.

I couldn't sleep, due to the snoring and discussions from the rooms next door, the walls are very thin. Also the maids didn't have the information when they came into my room in the morning at 8:15 am. Very unpleasant from the morning. Also surprised when I was billed the next morning, the person at reception asked me if I had been offered the overnight stay, because my bill was €140 while the overnight stay was €130 (I didn't have breakfast)

Lovely hotel with an excellent restaurant.

Staff was friendly. Restaurant was good, but very formal. The biggest issue was that the WiFi/internet was horrible. One of the worst I have ever experienced. The first night I could not load any web pages. While it improved over subsequent days, I typically shut the WiFi off and used my own data plan. In this day and age, that is a problem.

A superb setting, a dynamic, smiling, available and attentive team. We feel that customer satisfaction is a priority. Comfortable room, well-equipped and impeccably clean. As for the meal, a treat for the taste buds!! Refined and local cuisine = rare!

I had booked for 2 nights for the weekend of 08/15. I could cancel until midnight of 08/13. A health problem forced me to cancel my stay. I made the request on the morning of 08/14. The hotel, despite being full, charged me for one night, or €125. I would have appreciated a discount. Too bad

A short stay in a sweet single room which had everything I needed. Family run vibe and very nice too.

There was not a warm welcome the first room we were shown was inadequate and not what we booked English was not spoken by the lady on the reception and this was not a very good impression of our stay. The menu in the restaurant was very poor would not recommend this hotel.

Charming small hotel with an excellent restaurant

We received a very warm welcome from the entire Blanchet family, who work at the Hostellerie des Ducs, and are very attentive to the well-being of their guests. The hostel is in a pleasant, well-maintained setting, with an extraordinary selection of bed linen, a quiet location, and a magnificent wooded garden. Breakfast on the terrace was a pleasure! A sunny pool adds character to the grounds, not to mention the jacuzzi. A special mention goes to the chef and his assistants. The menus and à la carte menus are of high quality. From starters to desserts, everything is homemade. We recommend this establishment and thank you all for the wonderful weekend spent with you. (We also welcome the free, secure parking.) THANK YOU.

Beautiful place full of history with a welcome worthy of the quality of the service. Impeccable room with comfortable bedding. I really like the sheets and the bathrobe in the bathroom. A pretty wooded and flowery park for breakfast on the terrace, I was delighted and I highly recommend it.

Internal parking for cars must be reserved in advance because the number of spaces is limited, but street parking is possible without a parking meter. An EV charging station is available, with a type 2 socket (11 kW, probably) or a domestic one (2 kW in fact). The staff present that evening were very professional and impeccable. Quick check-in and room allocation in accordance with the reservation. The room was tastefully refurbished in the attic, so it was quiet under the roof of the house and had a beautiful view of the historic castle of Duras. The room was functional, with a large flat screen TV facing the bed, a nice corner jacuzzi that can be used by two people at a time, a desk with a kettle and coffee, an electric shutter, and a bathroom with a large shower and two sinks facing a large mirror. Comfortable bedding, no audible noise. A restaurant that needs no introduction, as the quality of the dishes offered is well-known, and rightly so. A must-visit address for an evening stopover or a weekend stroll in the area.

We are a little far from the standards that we can expect at this price level.

The Hostellerie des Ducs is a high-quality establishment, where the welcome, comfort, and cuisine are truly meticulously prepared. My stay wasn't my first and won't be my last. In addition to the quality and variety of the food, the prices are also very reasonable. We came as a couple for only one night, very friendly welcome but small and not high enough quality for the price... As for the breakfast which costs €12 and not having a lot of choice, and especially having rancid tasting butter it was not at all pleasant and the best thing is we found ourselves on a table, not even set with just a white tablecloth at the end of a terrace where it was very cold. (BE CAREFUL where you put your food, I don't think the cold chain is respected.) Otherwise the only positive point is the calm.

Very good restaurant but a bit expensive. Hotel a bit expensive and a bit old. Small room but good mattress and linen, small bathroom (toilet stuck to the radiator, not very comfortable, very shallow shower and accessories worn out)

Really excellent cuisine

I came to recharge my batteries in the region in mid-December. The hotel is ideally located in a quiet area close to shops and the castle. Despite my late arrival at the hotel restaurant, I was welcomed with kindness and the cooks prepared a delicious plate/complete meal for me. I was able to feel "at home" thanks to the kindness of the owners. Thank you!

I find the night a little expensive. I had asked for special attention for my friend's birthday which had been confirmed by email, but not respected in the evening at dinner. So I was disappointed on this subject.

Very picturesque property with nice outdoor seating area. Hotel set in a beautiful area. Room very worn and in need of make over. Floor was lifting and bubbled and needs maintenance. Wifi was an additional charge and was the worst ever experienced! Did not participate in breakfast as additional charge, did not use the gym or pool area as additional charge. All quite disappointing at nearly £100 per night!

The Hostellerie des Ducs is an establishment where we always enjoy returning. The quality of the welcome but also the comfort and the very nice menu of the restaurant make it an essential hotel when you come to the region. I had booked a standard room but it had no power outlets. So not up to date anymore. Complained at the reception and after a phone call by the receptionist we were rebooked to another, more luxurious room with sufficient power outlets.

It was ok. Easy check in, no forms. Easy out bill pay by card. Rooms are upstairs, no elevator, you carry your havy luggage. Nice Airconditioning, clean and lovely beds and sheets. Tiny bathroom. Also everything seems small, narrow and a bit outdated. Breakfast buffet good and plenty of choices, but in a small area. Great parking, nice garden, small pool with closing hours at 7.00 pm evenings in Sommer time!!

Despite deplorable customer relations and room decoration that is not to my taste, the hotel stands out for its enchanting setting. The chef's cuisine, a true gastronomic apotheosis, elevates the experience to a divine level.

The hotel setting is very pleasant and the chef's cuisine is simply divine. However, the decoration of the rooms is not to my taste. The big downside remains customer relations, which really lacks professionalism and is borderline aggressive.

Our parents stayed at the Hostellerie des Ducs in 1980, a year after it opened. They really enjoyed their stay... We came for one night on May 31. We appreciated all the services at their fair value: the magnificent setting, the cleanliness of the rooms, the breakfast. The only hotel in the village. Really very small room and exaggerated price considering the size of the room. Doesn't deserve three stars.

HOTEL WITH A LOT OF CHARM AND VERY GOOD WELCOME

Very nice establishment, with very efficient seminar equipment (team of 20 people). Plus the setting and the table are exceptional!

Overall, a stay with good value for money but mainly for the catering part. Stopover package is around €105, which is correct but there is a big difference between the restaurant which is really excellent, in particular the evening menu offered which is copious, elaborate, and the hotel part which is a little bit aging, the rooms correct but nothing more (notably the bathroom with very narrow shower and curtain... Breakfast between the two, the products offered are correct but little choice and above all lack of quantity (many customers have couldn't get any pastries) and the staff doesn't look to restock So overall, a bit in between but to go there at least for the catering part A little disappointed also with the parking which only allows for a few cars.

Rooms are rustic, cozy, comfortable and clean We especially enjoyed our evening meal in the hotel restaurant, it was honestly suberb! Duras village is beautiful with the castle, a couple of cafe/restaurants and a supermarket all within walking distance. An added bonus to have on site parking. We would highly recommend this hotel, would definitely book again.

It is a blessing to be able to frequent such an establishment which, for 4 generations, has held French hospitality very high with a touch of the South West. Quality local produce with culinary creativity always revisited, all this with a generous smile, what more could you want? May it last as long as possible!
