The hotel is quite an old building and the decoration could do with a bit of an upgrade - however that does not detract from a quiet, comfortable and peaceful night.
The qwners are so friendly and welcoming and Monsieur is an OUTSTANDING chef. You just cannot believe the quality of the dinner!! Quite magnificent.
Excellent welcome from the owners, the very good quality of the food and especially the gourmet menu at €42. Finally, the 17th century vaults of the breakfast room that I took photos of.

Everything needs to be redone... 2 floors via stairs....... it smells of mothballs!!..... much too expensive for what it is!!!
So disappointed... If we hadn't been on bikes, we would have skipped this step. Indeed, nothing matched what was advertised. Our room hasn't been renovated for decades. It is accessed through a corridor where the carpet tiles are peeling, as is the paint in the toilet. Small shower, cramped room, 70s decor, in short, nothing to do with what is offered on the website. The value for money is scandalous (142 euros including breakfast!). Too bad we can't send you photos because you would see the difference between what is offered and reality. The good bedding and the kindness of the managers don't save the whole thing. We do not recommend it!

The room was spacious, fairly clean (there were some "mold" issues in the bathroom near the shower door, which didn't really close). The welcome was just pleasant, with little communication and difficulty finding staff. Breakfast was just okay (even disappointing) for the price (€12). There was little bread (not very good quality and only one kind (white bread) - not even rusks...), no eggs, no cheese (even though the region is rich in it!), and you had to "run after" the owners to get something... The stay was still pleasant since the region is rich and the visits were exciting.
A very warm welcome awaits you in this charming, old-fashioned hotel. Montbard is a pretty town, but a little off the beaten track. The region, however, offers many beautiful attractions.

Despite a somewhat drab and dated appearance that was off-putting at first glance, the hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The room was spacious and the bedding comfortable. The recently renovated living room offered a pleasant setting (there was a nice outdoor terrace) and the dinner was very good. A facelift would be welcome to give this hotel a more inviting appearance.
An assessment is always individual. For us, it's important that the restaurant's service meets our expectations. The restaurant's service was very good.
