Coming for an event, we asked to access the room earlier to be able to get ready and the hotel was kind enough to grant it to us, a huge thank you for that. Retro lovers, we were delighted by the atmosphere of the hotel. The deluxe room is spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is quite complete with fresh products. So we had a pleasant stay.
I think that the presentation of this hotel (Hotel de France in La Chartre sur le Loir) on the internet is confusing about the type of room offered and suggests that the prices displayed do not reflect the reality of the cost of the rooms. We found ourselves in a "mini classic" room which was really mini without a wardrobe and with a TV that did not work (room located in the Annex!!!). In addition, the meal served is very sad compared to the presentation made of it... Ronsard menu with a duck breast that had to be returned because it did not correspond to the desired cooking type and a slice of foie gras three cigarette papers thick for €17.... For dessert, a dish called by a Ronsard-style name but which is nothing more than a pale copy of chocolate profiteroles.... In short, a big disappointment that does not encourage me to return to this hotel restaurant.
Coming back here feels like coming home. Always a friendly welcome from all of the team. Wonderful servive
It is enough to say I recommended Hotel de France to a number of friends and family.
Our stay was really great - the motoring history, the dinner, the bar and all the staff were wonderful.
Well worth the half hour detour from the motorway at Le Mans.
Travelling with our dog we stayed in the annexe so didn't see the main bedrooms. Our room and bathroom were a bit tight but clean and in excellent condition.
A very lovely hotel with a good atmosphere.
We enjoyed staying here although felt the service on arrival and departure coukd have been improved
We enjoyed our meal and although the staff were busy, they were helpful during the meal service.
A great old French hotel with days gone historic vibe and a strongs "24hours of Le Mans" connection in many ways. Great vibe. Good restaurant and bistro, I recommend. And you will spot many nice oldtimers and other special , even hypercars, on the towns square in front of the hotel. I will be back to experience it all once again 😎
Lovely place but biased as been there dozens of times.
Lovely hotel, fab staff and great food!
Lovely Little Hotel Great Food and Nice Surroundings for a Short Break
Hotel old no hay Pisina as shown in the photo if 5 mins away and more than just a few of the hotel's restaurants are good for its baby prices and its double price for a double cerveza 15 euros other than 8 maxi like the bottle of Perrier 8 euros one location
Lovely hotel with pool. Good restaurant and very good staff.
Everything was very good except the dinners I ate in the Restaurant which were less good and not up to the standard of the rest of the homeland also below the standard I had previously experienced at the Hotel de France.
Friendly hotel but no hot water and no help transferring suitcases to another room. Refusal to let us access the restaurant even for a cold plate within 5 minutes…
Absolutely brilliant.
Great room superb experience having a drink on the terrace outside and a superb meal. A great spot
It’s a great hotel with a very good restaurant. The only fault I found was the bathroom was a bit of a compromise and the shower very hot!
Don’t like shower in bath
We stayed for 1 night en-route through France. Visually nice hotel, small and family-run. We were very much looking forward to staying at owing to it's fabulous motoring history. We arrived about 4:30 pm. The room allocated was in the annexe and whilst it looked okay, the condition was poor. The room smelt musty and within 30 minutes it was clear the air conditioning was not functioning at all. The room was on the ground floor and the windows opened straight out onto the pavement, so it was difficult to ventilate the room without being completely visible to passers by! I raised the A/C problem with the hotel manager in Reception asked could he fix this or offer another room? He investigated the master control in the hotel reception and said it was working, but to wait 30 minutes for it to work correctly. I agreed with this, but after 2 hours it was clearly not functioning at all. Nothing on the display panel and no fan noise. When I passed by Reception and the manager didn't enquire with me about the A/C I decided not to waste any more time chasing up the issue. Nice place, spoiled by no interest in customer care.
Beautifully decorated hotel with a strong motor racing history. Evening meal was well cooked and wine selection reasonably priced.
WiFi signal was poor in bedroom but to be expected in an old stone building
Wish there was a small meal or snack option, especially at lunch time , inside or out
Very nice stay
A very enjoyable stay in an historic hotel
The hotel was easy to find and we managed to park outside. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
Cozy hotel with confusing decor, if we can put it that way, the bar restaurant section (for lunch and breakfast) is covered with photos of great car racers who have stayed in this hotel. The rooms with their old-fashioned decoration are very comfortable and full of nostalgia. The restaurant is welcoming with its white tablecloths. The unique menu is a little expensive in our opinion but the dishes are very good and the service is perfect. A small note: it would be better to install a rigid stair railing, rather than a rope, to climb the steep staircase leading to the bedrooms
Absolutely great all round.
A great family run traditional hotel. Rooms spacious, clean and well equipped.Very friendly ad helpful staff. Great food. Can't fault it.
Being a Le Mans 24 hr race fan since the late 1950's I really wanted to stay at this hotel, but it seems as though it is now resting on it's laurels from a bygone day. The room, at 122 euros, was smaller and more tired than I would expect at this price point for a March stay. There was no soap in the bathroom, just the empty box (I guess no-one had checked it. The room was cold as was central heating radiator was cold and there was a portable oil filled radiator that didnt seem to work either. We opened the curtains in the morning to find the windows running with condensation, the glass being single glazed.
The biggest dissapointment was the evening meal. My wfe ordered monk fish as a main. The portion was very small! I ordered a steak cooked 'a point' (pink in the middle). I was told it was filet. It arrived very much over cooked. They took it away and another arrived. It was tough! I suggested this was not filet, to which the waitress said they had run out and this was not filet.....yet I had paid for filet!! At 44 euros a head I expected better. The wine too was expensive at 38 euros a bottle.
On this trip we had already stayed in a comparable (3 star) hotel on Dieppe seafront. It was warmer, awith a far more comfortable bed and spacious room for 87 euros.
The glory of this hotel is as faded as the old motor racing photographs on the lounge walls. I would not recommend it!
A comfortable hotel with tasteful decoration, the staff is welcoming and friendly, I recommend it, it's a stop not to be missed.
Very nice hotel, we had a wonderful time!!
The rooms are exceptional. We had a 4 poster bed with matching furniture. The restaurant had a good choice of meals with excellent service. The staff were exceedingly friendly
This hotel was recommend to me and I will certainly not hesitate to recommend it to others!!
Very comfortable hotel. Breakfast a little expensive
Lovely hotel with original character. Fantastic restaurant, best meal I have had in a long time. staff wine choice perfectly matched the meal.
Very enjoyable and restful stay, lovely staff
We first stayed here in 1996 for a few days and have revisited on 3 occasions since it was purchased and renovated. Our latest stay in September was just as good as before. The hotel still retains its charm and 24 heures du Mans links, which is what we love and the more luxurious rooms make it even better. The rooms are nicely decorated and are individual, although I don’t think much has changed since they were refurbished a few years ago. The restaurant still serves very good food and the service was excellent. There is no aircon in the main building but there are big fans which were effective. We also love that one of the staff has worked there since our very first visit. Lovely to see a familiar face. The hotel de France is a special place and we highly recommend it.
The above says it all!
A very pleasant stopover with friendly, friendly and professional staff. Good bedding. Calm And for lovers of the 24 hours of Le Mans..... A nostalgic imprint
Great hotel in a very small town. Staff were pleasant and very welcoming. Room was well appointed. Great quiet setting.
Great traditional hotel , not overly modernised, in part thanks to its Le Mans heritage. Excellent reception by lovely lady who showed us our room and even offered to carry our suitcase. Great outside terrace to enjoy an aperitif and fantastic restaurant , food and service excellent. Would have preferred not to be segregated to sit with other brits, however that may have been a coincidence. Breakfast not as good as in other Logis hotels ,choice limited: only salami and kiwi fruit on offer . Also a bit pricey at 14 euros when other establishments charge between 7 and 10 euros for much better fare. However the character of the hotel wins hands down !!
Very good hotel, quiet family room. Thank you for your welcome.
Very nice hotel with interesting race history.
Love Hotel de France good service, great food and a good night's sleep. What more do you need😊
This is our second visit. Only one minor comment, the waitress's in the restaurant could smile, and maybe "relax" a little bit more. Waiting at table is a two thing.
Very good, great food. Loved the Le Mans 24 hr heritage.
We arrived pretty late ans they could not have been more helpful. A bottle of wine, a plate assortedchams and pickles, bread and a lovely bowl of buttery new potatoes. Perfect for tired drivers. Room was large enough and very well-appointed plus it was spotlessly clean.
Friendly and helpful staff, and very comfortable accommodation. We hope to return.
Very small room at the end of the annex. Hyper noisy room (piping, neighborhood TV). 117 Euros + 14 Euros/pers for the quality breakfast??? Bathroom window blocked. Bedroom shutter broken. Restaurant with an average value for money.
Amazing personnel. Charming hotel. Spacious room. Great food.
Such a lovely location and full of (high octane) history
Our room was quite compact but serviceable, the restaurant food was excellent along with the wine list. We were seated off the main dining room and service was a little slow.
We were welcomed very warmly and had a most lovely stay
This hotel was very nice and the staff brilliant, the restaurant was first class with some great wines.
Lovely staff and functional and spacious rooms.
Lovely hotel with great pool facilities. Set in a beautiful square, great stopover on our qay gh the Dordogne region.
Such a lot of history connected with the Le Mans races. Typical old French hotel with lovely food.9
A delightful hotel, friendly helpful staff.
Excellent evening meal.
Fantastic hotel and with lots of Le Mans history! Super friendly staff and great food. Best little hotel in France. This was my 2nd. visit.
Classic ‘old’ France - lovely!
A joy to stay here. Staff are great and attentive. Bar is very pleasant along with terrace. Evening food high quality in a semi formal setting. Lunch time brassiere also very enjoyable. There’s a hidden beauty at the area rear of hotel - i’ll leave you to discover - it made the stay even more enjoyable 👍👍👍
EXCELLENT in ALL respects!!
A great warm welcome from Chistophe, that man is a diamond. Only disappointment was not being able to order from the A La Carte menu Saturday Evening as it was special Easter menu. Although Chef did go out of his way for one of our party and presented him with the Creme Brulee he was looking forward too.
Sound insulation to be improved.
Hot water takes a good 10 minutes to come through. Narrow staircase makes transporting bags etc somewhat tricky
