The quality, atmosphere and friendliness of this hotel is exceptional. On an extensive tour of France staying mostly at 2 star Logis hotels, the Petit Vatel was outstanding. I would especially mention the politeness and helpfulness of one particular young lady who I later realised was the owners daughter. She insisted on carrying my heavy suitcase up the steep staircase, despite my protests that she should leave it to me. OK! I may have the appearance of an older guest but her eagerness to be helpful was exceptional in an era when it is customary for guests to carry their own baggage in and out of hotels. I emphasise, this was a heavy case but she made light of it and carried it down again next morning. I was most impressed and very grateful!
