Having left a wristband in my room, I tried unsuccessfully to call the hotel a few hours after my departure, and several times over the course of a week. I called the landline, the mobile number found on the website, sent emails, and left messages on the answering machine… No one answered or called me back, which I find unacceptable.

Hotel Clair Cottage is a lovely hotel in the Loire Valley - many chateaux are within easy driving distance and there is a great walk along the river directly from the hotel.
Plenty of free parking on site.
Rooms are of a good size , with comfortable beds and bedding, better lighting than a lot of the hotels we have stayed at, courtesy tray in room including bottles of water which were much appreciated, tv , en suite bathroom with walk in shower and complimentary toiletries.
As we were at the far end of the hotel we found the free wi-fi sporadic, but that was easily sorted by going down in to the lounge area.
Buffet breakfast was excellent - great value for money : a great choice of cold meats and cheeses, hot scrambled eggs and bacon ,cereals, various breads, cakes , the largest pain au raisin and pain au chocolat I have ever seen (as big as my hand ....and very fresh and tasty.) jams, honey, syrup, fruit juices, hot drinks . Definitely worth having.
We had an evening meal on the first night : good choices available .The young waitress was attentive and friendly.
Sadly on the second night we were disappointed , which is a real shame as everything had been fine until then.: our entree arrived , and was very tasty. However we then sat at our table for a further hour without our main course being served , despite numerous tables around us (who arrived and placed their orders later than we did ) receiving their mains and even finishing them. We received no warning of a delay or reason why. Due to medication my husband takes he needs to eat at regular intervals so we eventually left the restaurant and ate snacks from our car.
One blip in out stay - but we would still return to this hotel.

Good services, especially the very good breakfast. For the evening meal, the waiting time was too long, 45 minutes between the starter and the main course on the 2nd evening.

Our welcome was with a smile, the rooms very spacious and comfortable. The evening dinner a pleasure with a few dishes from Reunion, a welcome variation indeed.
Breakfast was a continental delight, from ripe fresh fruit and yoghurt through to wonderful generous pastries and again with a few quirks including home made mini doughnuts filled with chocolate, delicious!

Superb family room, well-appointed, spacious, in 2 spaces separated by the bathroom. So children and adults have their own area. Air-conditioned. Very clean. Hearty breakfast. Decent dinner, slow service. On the other hand, the hotel's dining room has remained in its original state...

Spacious rooms. The restaurant side of things needs to improve, both on the portions, which are really small, and on the selection. The food is very simple, and the value for money is not balanced.

VERY WELL-LOCATED HOTEL FOR DISCOVERING AND STOPOVERS ON THE LOIRE BY BIKE

The photos give the impression of a beautiful residence with a lovely terrace. However, the hotel needs a major refresh to match the photo: breakfast room, reception, terrace to be planted. The quality of the morning buffet is also quite average: very basic teas, overcooked scrambled eggs that seem from the day before, industrial brioche, greasy pastries. For €150, you can really expect a lot. The room, however, is quite acceptable.

Fine hotel for a night en route. Friendly people. Good bed and good amenities. Good shower. The hairdryer didn't work. Food and breakfast were basic but okay. Breakfast in particular could be more varied.

The +: Friendly welcome, very attentive and warm staff. Simple but well-maintained, clean hotel. Comfortable bedding. Relatively quiet despite the proximity of the road. The -: A bit of a wait at the restaurant the first evening, but the next day everything was back to normal. The milk bottle was questionable at breakfast (trace of lumps at the screw cap).

🤩 A very pleasant stay, large, well-equipped room on the ground floor, very practical because I had my 🐕. I really appreciated the welcome I received, the possibility of being accompanied by my dog, including for dinner and breakfast. I was also very satisfied with the possibility of dining on site. Parking is easy. And of course, I was delighted with the proximity (1 km) of the Château de Chenonceau, which was the purpose of my stay. An address that I will carefully note 😊 I cannot comment on the quality of the wifi because I did not try to connect 😉

Well located for visiting the Loire Valley castles. Well maintained. The cherry on the cake: 3 Freshmile charging stations right in front are a DC 22kW. Pleasant and non-intrusive staff. Good bedding, good comfort. Breakfast with fresh products and pastries. The evening meal could be improved although good value for money. Very happy with our choice. I recommend.

Never slept so well in my life. The bed was fantastic and finally high enough. Room is very spacious with excellent sanitary facilities, also for taller people.. The staff is super friendly. Special requests for early departure and trailer parking were no problem. The building is a classic French country hotel and unfortunately that means no elevator. That's the only reason why this isn't a 10. Recommended in the restaurant: Coup Amarena !! I drove there in the evening on unlit narrow country roads. Tip is to plan the trip in such a way that you arrive in daylight. You can also have a drink at your leisure!

This booking was a last minute choice to break up our return journey - and what a great find it is !
Easy to find : free parking : huge room (we were given a room with a double and a single bed) : complimentary bottled water , coffee, mini biscuits, toothbrush and toothpaste , razor and shaving gel ).
Wanting to stretch our legs after a long journey we asked where we could walk locally , and were directed towards the river and a well appointed cycle and walking path where we had a wonderful long walk to work up an appetite for dinner.
Having booked on a half-board basis we are aware that many establishments then offer just a set menu choice for dining .... however at Hotel Clair Cottage we were allowed to choose anything from the extensive menu , and the food was freshly cooked and served with a smile .
This was not the cheapest of hotels we stayed at during this holiday ...... but the huge breakfast buffet proved that it provides great value for money.....and the proprietor helped me out to play a trick on my son by donating a (sadly empty ) freshly washed 3 kg catering tub of Nutella to bring home.
Very conveniently located to visit amazing Amboise .
We will happily book to stay here again , and for longer next time so we can explore more of the beautiful Loire region and its chateaux.

A very friendly and welcoming hotel. Had a great atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The location was great for our visit to Chenonceau, which was just down the road. There were other hotels closer but this was in a quieter location. Plenty of parking spaces. We had an excellent dinner in the evening and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine, under the shade. Breakfast was very good. A huge choice- almond croissants and pain au raisins were particularly delicious.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel and each time it is a joy. A hotel on a human scale, very quiet and well located. The contact with the owners is very pleasant, they are always ready to inform you and help you (thanks again for the bottles and the ice pack in the fridge!). And what can I say about the waitress, very young but very friendly, very gracious and very professional. She has a sense of service and that is not always obvious... Last word about the meals. The breakfast is great: fresh and very complete, there is something for everyone. As for dinner, quality dishes "like at home", we treat ourselves and that is all that matters. In summary, well done and thank you to the whole team. Keep it up despite the inevitable bad faith comments... I obviously recommend this establishment. See you soon!

The room was very clean and cozy. The beds are comfortable. The breakfast was OK, sufficient and tasty. We cannot recommend the evening meal, however. We saw other restaurants in town.

Courtesy and availability

There was no one at the front desk or answering the phone until 4 PM though the website said that started at 8 AM. The one staff member there was working very hard, smiling, and he was doing the work of three people. Kudos to him! His friendliness and helpfulness was appreciated. Overall, the hotel seemed understaffed for the fairly large tourist crowd the night we stayed there.

Very well placed and pleasant welcome. However, we were very bothered by the fact that we did not have curtains on the windows of our room which also overlooked the street. The breakfast was excellent with very good products, quality pastries and local jams.

Used to staying at home every week apart from my work, this one is a gem! Charming welcome, very clean rooms, great bedding, little welcome touch with bottles of water put in the toilet with tea and 1 biscuit (increasingly rare). As for the perfect step-by-step formula, simple, made with good products and a Creole touch for some that takes our taste buds on a journey. The attentive, smiling waitress, the adorable owners. Breakfast with excellent bakery pastries. Honestly, I would go back there personally. Not to be missed if you are in the area.

My son and I loved it. The staff were amazing, especially the attendant at the front desk. Location was perfect and our room was great with a very comfortable bed. The food was super tasty and we were so pleasantly surprised how well maintained and clean the place was. Can't wait to come back.

I highly recommend this hotel. Very nice home. The breakfast bread was excellent. Just one downside regarding the bedroom and the bathroom. There was too much perfume smell for me as I am very sensitive. It would be better to favor the use of neutral products for laundry.
