Your stay at the Demeures & Châteaux Ferme de la Ranconnière
A dedicated path then leads to the British memorial at Ver-sur-Mer, perched on the heights of Mont Fleury. This reverent shrine commemorates the heroism of the Commonwealth soldiers who fell for France. 10 km away, the Arromanches Landing Museum reveals the technical and human prowess of the artificial harbour. Continue your journey of remembrance at Bayeux British War Cemetery, the final resting place of 4,000 servicemen. Its American counterpart at Colleville-sur-Mer is also the silent guardian of the souls of Omaha Beach.
What's more, the house is centrally located for exploring Honfleur, Deauville, Caen and Mont-Saint-Michel.
At the heart of the Norman landscape, the historic roots of the estate lie in the very fabric of the 16th century. Initially named Manoir de Biéville, in honour of the founding family, this architectural gem endured the tumult of the Hundred Years' War. The war pitted the Crown of England against the Kingdom of France.
Subsequently, under the aegis of the Chastel family in the 17th century, almost all the buildings were demolished, with the exception of the tower. It was later, in 1710, that the estate finally adopted its current name, thanks to the daughter of the Lord of Biéville. Over the years, the estate changed hands, even becoming home to the "Servants of Jesus known as the Hospitaller Sisters of Saint Louis" from Caen.
In 1944, the farm once again found itself in the midst of the turmoil of war. It served as an air base for the German army and was liberated in June of that year. However, it was in 1967 that its destiny took an unprecedented turn. Following a fortuitous turn of events involving Belgian tourists, it was transformed into a guest house. Today, this jewel of heritage is a charming hotel nestling in the heart of historic Normandy. Its porch, facades and roof are listed in the supplementary inventory of historic buildings.
Thanks to a major refurbishment, the 40 rooms and suites are distinguished by their character, atmosphere and distinctive features. The interior design harmoniously blends the historic architecture of the estate with pieces of French manufacture.
It's impossible not to be charmed by the discreet elegance of this place. The warm ambience highlights the raw beauty of the old stones and beams. Your gaze is captivated by the delicacy of the contemporary armchairs, the silky fabrics and the gilded ornamentation of the furniture. Each room recounts a fragment of history, from the old bakery, to the lord's bedroom, to the stables of yesteryear.
Outside, the estate is adorned with flower gardens, meticulously tended by a gardener of undisputed talent. Contemplation and serenity to disconnect from everyday life. What's more, the enchanting scent of roses, combined with the sea breeze, will revive your senses and soothe you. In the midst of this bucolic setting, a charming mini-farm houses three rabbits and three hens, to the delight of children. Not far away, a play area inspired by the medieval era is also waiting for them to play knights and princesses.
As for the chef, he pays fine tribute to the richness of Normandy. These tasty menus showcase local produce. What's more, a gourmet brunch is offered every month on Sundays. A treat for the taste buds. Reduce

We loved this hotel and room. All the staff were excellent and cared for our experience while staying. The only downside was the restaurant for dinner. We were underwhelmed with the menu options. As Americans I guess we are accustomed to more choices. The quality of our meal was average. The breakfast was fantastic. The fresh squeezed oj was a morning delight. Great coffee selection, quality and convenience. My favorite was the fresh daily plain yogurt. Best I’ve had anywhere.
We like to stop at the Ferme de la Rançonnière quite regularly and have always been very satisfied. A little disappointed by our last stop on October 6. Disappointing classic room, small, (big difference with the superior) as well as the bathroom. Little space for kits and toiletries. Instructions to find for the shower, faulty TV remote control, restaurant closed on Sunday evening when it was specified as open when I booked on the logis website. The site is still as remarkable for its charm and tranquility. Breakfast is a good time: large choice of fresh products, pretty room, friendly and attentive staff.
Wonderful hotel, great quality finish, oldie worldwide feeling. Like stepping back in time with the bare stone walls and flagged floors yet warm and cosy
Excellent hôtel. The surrounding area is very beautiful, rural but easily drivable to Caen, Arromanches etc. The rooms are a good size with very comfortable beds, food delicious. Breakfast room is a lovely bright room with a good choice of either continental or hot food. There is plenty parking on site.
We had a fab stay there. Thanks to all the staff who made us feel very welcomed. Highly recommended.
The staff are very welcoming & helpful. The rooms are a good size with very comfortable beds , food delicious.
Yet again a lovely stay
Overall, this is a very nice hotel in a lovely location. The rooms were large and clean and we liked the historic atmosphere and decor. Our biggest complaint was with the dining. This hotel prioritizes outside groups over its own guests so we were not able to eat at the hotel. This is a huge inconvenience because it is located in the country so you have to drive to other establishments looking for a place to eat after a long day of traveling or site seeing. You may have to drive a long distance to find a place to eat. Many other guests at the hotel also complained about not being able to eat at the restaurant but this complaint fell on deaf ears. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you bring your own food.
We had booked via Logis Hotels on 29 June which advertised a Restaurant Gourmant for two nights, 9 and 10 September. On arrival, we were told that dinner was not available because there was a large party dining (40) that evening and there were not enough staff. We made a fuss and we were eventually seated in the restaurant for dinner but very late and with very slow service. However, on the second night, we were firmly told that dinner was not available. Again, there was a large party dining and not enough staff. We noted that other hotel residents were dining! We sat in the bar with a plate of cheese and cold meats.
On 8 September, the day before our arrival (to see The British Normandy Memorial at Ver-sur-Mer), we had received a welcoming e-mail stating: "Pour le plaisir des papilles, votre hotel dispose d'une Restaurant Gourmand. Le Restauant Ferme de la Ranconniere vous accueille. Bon appetit!"
We were deceived into believing that we would be able to have dinner on both nights.
It was a disgrace!
The hotel is very beautiful. An atmosphere of history in a beautiful decorated and comfortable hotel. Details of the past are preserved, the quality of the room is good and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom is large and also comfortable. A large garden, with a few sunbeds for lounging and reading in the shadow of the trees. The hotel is surrounded by pasture, and you can make a nice small walk.
The hospitability and service of the reception could be better, in particular when the restaurant was apparently ‘complet’ for two of the three days we had booked the hotel.
Lovely rural location. Beautful old stone buildings. Bit expensive.
Perfect, just a very very long service at the restaurant.
This is a lovely hotel in a good location near the coast and D Day beaches. Excellent food in the restaurant and lovely buffet breakfast. Our stay was interupted on the first night with water from the room above coming through our ceiling. Despite the late hour (22.50) the staff responded promptly and moved us to upgraded alternative accommodation with minimum fuss.
This property is beautiful located in a rural area with a countryside feeling. Grounds are beautifully manicured and property construction & location is stunning. Only unfortunate let down is the staff either they were understaffed or under trained because they failed to honor a simple request which was very important to us & our sleeping comfort which was giving us a fan. There is no AC at this property and at check in we requested a fan. We did not receive it so I went back to the reception and said I would pick up the fan myself but was told it would be brought to my room. Yet again later that evening concerned we would not be able to sleep without a fan. We made another request to a restaurant staff member.and still no fan all night which ruined our entire nights sleep! 3 separate requests all went unanswered and yet at checkout the agent apologized and said they had many fans available but they must have forgotten! 3 requests intro coming to the front desk to pick it up and they forgot? How come they don’t forget to charge for every little.consumption but in the middle of summer in a non AC room they forget to bring or give us a fan! Why isn’t the fan already in a closet inside the room like so many even lesser properties we stayed at in the area? And if they recognize their error and apologized, they could easily have removed our small food a consumption charge from the restaurant as a customer service gesture! But they chose to do nothing at checkout except “apologize”... That is truly disappointing for what otherwise could’ve been a great experience!
Very warm welcome, excellent staff. Quiet hotel with lots of charm. I recommend 100%!
The place is beautiful, the service lacking and unprofessional; some rooms have a bad smell, there is no minibar and air conditioning in the rooms; the young and inexperienced staff. Sin!
A peaceful and refined place in a bucolic setting. Calm and authenticity are there. I chose the half-board option. The quality is there but the "return from the market" is not changed every day: for a stay of 4 nights, the starter "return from the market" was constantly the same and the main course "return from the market" changed only once. In terms of sanitary facilities, having opted for a deluxe room, I would have appreciated having a toilet separate from the bathroom.
Beautiful place and exquisite food—thank you so much for welcoming us!
Authentic very charming hotel with good location to all sights and museums in the area. Quiet and relaxing after a long day out. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent with very good food. The breakfast buffet is very good as well. The only thing we felt could be improved was the bar service and snack menu as it was often unattended and we had to ask to be served. The hotel mattresses in the rooms are firm. Good for a back sleeper but a bit hard for someone sleeping on their side.
All round great experience
Sans pareil
Wonderful accommodation and the most amazing food. The bone marrow and as out of this world.
Very comfortable hotel - the bedroom, bar area and restaurant. Plenty of outdoor seating and beautiful gardens surrounding. The breakfast buffet area is somewhat cramped when there are lots of people staying. But a good choice.
excellant room food and service
Excelente reestructuración del edificio y atención al cliente.
Very nice hotel a little bit disappointed in the cost of the breakfast which was €16 each and really didn’t get a lot. Also some of the attitude of the staff who told us to leave the bar at 11 o’clock we were just finishing our drinks to leave when she switched the lights off, and was quite rude to us not what you expect from a hotel calibre . Generally everything else was good, lovely setting and surrounding and food excellent at dinner.
This chateau was an absolute gem! I wish we were able to stay more than 1 night! I would love to come back some day!! It was very clean and combined the beauty of an old chateau with modern amenities. Well done!
An excellent hotel, with fabulous accommodation, service and staff. Perfectly sited for enjoying the Normandy coast and the D-Day sites
An excellent stay of one night at a unique high quality establishment. Character room, though a little cramped as it was formed out of the roof space. Great meal in the evening and a quality breakfast. A little expensive for the size of room, but overall a great stay.
Arrived at the hotel and first appearance was that it looked absolutely gorgeous, then came the disappointment to be told, the restaurant was full for that evening. It was not at all clear that one had to ring 1st to book a table. The gentleman at reception suggested from a list he had on a piece of paper of places to go. He highly rated one of these places so we took it upon ourselves to go there and he booked it for us. Not suggesting that he is in cahoots with the owner of the restaurant The food was bloody awful for the money which was paid. let's move onto the room which we were put in, we were shoved up into a room which was in the top of the building and it was like a sweat box with an extremely tiny window.
It had a air-conditioning unit which did not work very well and you had to have it on at full power and extremely noisy. I would imagine that whoever put us in that room knew it was gonna be baking hot as it was about 26° outside. In the morning, I mentioned about the heat and the tiny little window the room had and I was told I should have asked for a different room, knowing how hot it was that day, they should not of put us in there in the first place. Shame I did not know about the other Logie in the village, which looked very nice and I should've stayed there. A waste of time a waste of money, I shall not be going back. Just one last thing, I've never ever had to book a table before getting to a Logis hotel.
Excellent customer service.
Lindo e romântico hotel, servindo de ótima base para conhecer as praias do dia D.
Rooms on the top floor are terrible. Luckily we could change rooms, but only after our own requests, Restaurant staff is not very familiar with the basics of the fine art of serving food.
Perfect
Great hotel. Lovely building. Reception manager brilliant. Restaurant staff need to be more like her in terms of friendliness and efficiency
Beautifully restored hotel, lovely setting with a very friendly atmosphere and attentive staff.
.
Beautiful Hotel.
Loved our time there. Great room and good food. Very helpful and attentive staff. Probably awed bit expensive
the place was magical, beautiful french countryside, the chateau was beautiful and very well kept. The food at dinner was excellent, the breakfast was a bit dissapointing
Everything is excellent
All the staff encountered demonstrated professionalism and friendliness. Very beautiful estate well located for visiting the landing beaches. We were upgraded. Will come back with pleasure
Thomas the receptionist was exceptionally helpful and spoke perfect English. The hotel buildings are superb and the rooms themselves very good.
Everything was perfect for a long romantic weekend. Excellent breakfast and dinner
A beautiful, well-appointed room, lovely grounds and delicious food; a most welcome respite on a very full schedule.
I would add only that the bathroom tub/shower arrangement is a bit awkward for these older guests.
Very nice Hotel. Nickel room. Small problem with the wifi which works very poorly. Regarding the restaurant, the meal is excellent. The only downside is the service which is not worthy of a hotel of this type.
Vraiment parfait. Une bâtisse sublime.
exceptional!
Very good, just missing a minibar in the room
Séjour impeccable, avons eu même droit à un surclassement dans une chambre supérieur.
Upon discovering this renowned establishment, we were not disappointed.
No heating in the room Restaurant quality very good very long waiting time Moderately successful weekend
An excellent hotel in every way. Very welcoming, friendly staff. Excellent standard of accommodation and amenities. Food was presented beautifully and of excellent quality. Looking forward to returning.
Beautiful hotel in rural surroundings with magical grounds. Hotel rooms has lovely appointments (antique armoires, and cozy bedding.) would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay near the Normandy battlefield beaches.
Unbelievable time here. The room was amazing and the staff was even better. Thank you for a memorable stay in your beautiful hotel.
Very pleasant place, very good restaurant and really relaxing setting.
Love this hotel! This was our second stay and will stay again and highly recommend! The hotel is an easy 3 hour drive from CDG and well located to explore all the villages and historical areas in Normandy!
Beautiful, unique hotel!!
Loved our stay!
A delightful venue that exceeded our expectation. Wonderful walks in the countryside. Fantastic breakfasts with the best baked goods.
View the hotel's answerGreat hotel. Lovely staff. Food for breakfast and dinner was great! Cookie time was great!! We plan on coming back!!
View the hotel's answerExceptional setting of beauty, calm and comfort very close to Bayeux and the beaches.
The setting, room and restaurant were excellent but the breakfast was disappointing for such a good hotel
View the hotel's answerVery nice hotel. Only the restaurant was less than expected : some dishes were exceptionally good (starters, desserts) , but others (main courses) were at most so-so (dry meat or no different as i would make it at home). Also not enough choice to eat there every evening of our stay
View the hotel's answerVery nice accommodation with great food.
View the hotel's answerVery pleasant and professional personnel; great restaurant and beautiful garden and terraces to relax. The hotel is perfectly located as basis for various trips in the area, such as Bayeux, invasion beaches and war cemetaries.
View the hotel's answerA lovely hotel with beautiful grounds. We ate in the restaurant every night and the food and wines were fantastic.
Definitely a place to stay to visit the nearby D Day beaches and memorials.
A very pleasant place benefiting from remarkable architecture to create a charming stay. Disappointing reception, except for a person with boundless kindness and high-class professionalism capable of making up for all the blunders of his colleagues. Housekeepers need to be managed because the accumulation of negligence is unacceptable in an establishment that aims to be of a very good standard. The catering and the staff who run it are at the expected level with a kindness and know-how that makes visiting this part of the establishment a source of comfort and pleasure. The breakfast is very disappointing, particularly due to the overall mediocre quality of the products. It is frankly unacceptable to serve a white ham coming out of plastic packaging in a region where there is certainly a very professional artisan butcher nearby who makes wonderful products. In summary, a very unequal establishment whose strength is the architecture and the professionalism of part of the staff, without management seeming to have a clear vision of its positioning and the best level of benchmark, too bad!
Outstanding hotel, centrally located, peaceful surroundings. Attentive and polite staff. Wonderful accommodation with lovely views. Will definitely be staying for a longer period when we return to Normandy in the future.
Gorgeous hotel and a stunning meal in the restaurant with impeccable service!
Very noisy
Remarkable hotel. Free parking, very nice room with maximum comfort. Separate toilet, large bathroom with very comfortable shower, and furniture to put your belongings, heating in the bathroom handkerchiefs, wipes, bathrobes, slippers, etc etc... excellent bedding, espresso available, The top of the 4 stars. Without forgetting an extreme kindness, and availability of the staff. All this in a very flowery and very well maintained environment. We have been coming for years and it is more pleasant, beautiful and welcoming. Highly recommend
Just splendid!
Magnificent hotel where it is the 7 or 8th time that we have come. The welcome is perfect, the rooms are all very beautiful with very nice equipment. The new room 202 is splendid with its stone ceiling and arches. The only downside is a TV that is a little complicated to use, a few cobwebs (it's the countryside) and small tiles on a glass door that need cleaning. (but the frequent rain is probably the cause). The restaurant is perfect, the menus are at a very correct price, with excellent service. There is ample FREE parking. Highly recommend without hesitation.
Very nice hotel in superb buildings. Great welcome. Very friendly and helpful staff. Spotless room. Very good restaurant. Copious and complete breakfast. Large car park. Nothing to complain about. I recommend and personally I treasure the address.
Overall hotel is very nice.
But but..we had a room with hair in the 'shower and a very very nasty smell in the bathroom. Hair were removed but The smell story could not be fixed..we could not change room...and worse..no commercial gesture in the end..so not worth a 4 stars hotel
The hotel staff are exceptional. We found them to be very friendly and helpful.
What a spectacular place!!! It was my father’s wish to see the beaches at Normandy. I wanted to make it a really special trip for my parents who are in their 80’s. They has never stayed in the French countryside so I researched carefully to find the perfect place! I certainly discovered it! Besides being magically beautiful, stylish and rustic as only the French can do, the Ferme de la Rançonnière was warm and welcoming . The staff members are lovely, polite and smiling. The courtyard restaurant was the perfect spot after a day or touring and traveling. We enjoyed the food and the wine which were both varied and local. I would strongly recommend this hotel as a dreamy spot in the French countryside for your vacation plans!
From the moment we drove in through the front gates we knew we made the right choice. A 300 year old hotel with a modern feel. Lovely restaurant and bar on the premises and a great walk though the fields for the dog just behind the hotel.
Maxine was excellent waiter in restaurant!!!
Glorious setting - the hotel is a little paradise. Old stone buildings dating back centuries, flowers everywhere, the whole place spacious and beautifully kept, and lots of delightful spots in which to sit out. Our room was delightful, very traditional yet with every modern convenience. Great shower, bathrobes and flannels - always a plus for me. Staff so welcoming and helpful. Great buffet breakfast. Plenty of parking. Lovely location - Crepon is a pretty village, not far from the coast and near historic Creully, where - since the hotel restaurant was full most nights - we enjoyed three fabulous meals in the wonderful Hostellerie Saint-Martin.
Beautiful hotel. Staff were polite and very service minded. Food very good. Wine selecction very good. Rooms and cleanliness were great.
Beautiful place! Exquisite.
A lovely building in a good location but indifferent service, no atmosphere and overpriced food also of indifferent quality. The hotel has the character of a business hotel in a chain with no charm or warmth. Some staff were actually rude and all except one or two need training in customer service and attitude.
The rooms were overpriced considering their size and the fact that they had not been upgraded for fifteen years. (Information given by the receptionist). From previous experience it would seem that some establishments allocate the less than perfect rooms to guests booking through Booking.com. In addition it must be said that using, or trying to use, the shower over the bath was dangerous. In as much as that there is no hand rail to hold onto to climb over the side of the bath. The surface of the bath had no anti slip surface plus the shower head would not stay in place.
We were very disappointed with the breakfast and dinner food.
The room was lovely, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean.
Bigger fluffier towels would be more luxurious.
Lovely hotel with very pleasant staff everywhere.
Lovely property - a perfect marriage of new and old world.
Establishment always as pleasant, very clean, calm and very welcoming and smiling staff. I recommend 200%.
I wish I could live there! So tranquil and lovely. Most of all, the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Excellent welcome from all the staff, very caring. Impeccably clean rooms and the entire hotel. The room is cozy, tastefully decorated and the bedding very comfortable. The excellent restaurant!
Majestic site, very friendly, professional and discreet staff. Excellent catering
Everything was perfect, from the welcome to the services offered.
A dream setting for lovers of beautiful stones, beautifully renovated places with quality hotels. Breakfast and catering are top notch. To sum up: Welcome, service and quality services... you can go there with your eyes closed and even return there without being tired of the place.
Very nice hotel, old style and a romantic atmosphere. Beautiful old renovated building. At the same time modern and top kitchen, very friendly service.
Lovely character hotel with great food. Excellent situation for access to Bayeux/Normandy beaches
Amazing place, destination, staff and the food was also incredible and we will certainly be coming back.
Good hotel combining modernity and tradition for the setting and the decoration. The services were at the height of a 4 star. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Good bedding. Note excellent Wifi quality made necessary by the thickness of the walls.
