We booked a double room but got two separate beds, great evening!
Ideal location, very convenient private parking and impeccable cleanliness.
The heating wasn't working, I was very cold. The room is poorly soundproofed; the windows let in drafts and all the street noise. Furthermore, a guest spent a large part of the night on the phone, talking very loudly in the next room.
The room was old and run-down: cobwebs, sticky tiles… The breakfast was mediocre (moldy jam!!!)
Well located in the city center - parking available - but outdated premises - rather basic comfort - no lighting above the sink - leaky shower wall - uncomfortable bedding - Good, hearty breakfast. Pleasant staff.
We were a little disappointed not to be greeted by someone. But otherwise everything was very good: excellent location, very good breakfast, quiet room, comfortable bed.
Hotel right in the city center with parking. The location is truly excellent. The hotel is a bit dated, but we slept well in a room overlooking the courtyard. The shower water was nice and hot. There was a good selection for breakfast with local products. So, what more could you ask for? The price is very good for what you get.

Good welcome, great parking, good heating and hot water. The worst part of my stay was the 1st class Vilard hotel; I was freezing in the room. The reason I was there was compression, poor reception, zero reception. Avoid the 1st class Vilard at all costs.
The room was outdated and the bathroom was dirty. There was no one at reception when we arrived, and no Wi-Fi, which was included in the price. Breakfast was adequate.
The hotel needs renovation. There's a lot of noise from the street.

Very old room, very damaged bathroom, no toilet brush. Toilet paper very limited for 2. No remote control for the television when we arrived.

Very welcoming and friendly staff and good breakfast. However there is no double glazing and even though the street was not very noisy it was a bit annoying.

Good hotel**
Room, room, everything needs to be redone, paint is peeling off and there is a lot of dust to be done near the complaints. There were 3 of us, including a baby, even a cot or a 3rd bed was offered to us. My son was therefore forced to sleep 3 in a bed. No one else was there when we arrived at 3:30 p.m.
Well located and comfortable hotel
Cleanliness leaves much to be desired (stained duvet, hair and other debris on the mattress, dirty floor, broken and non-functional TV remote control). The room is outdated (bathroom in very poor condition, peeling paint, significant mold). The elevator is not working (apparently regularly). And we only find out upon leaving that the parking is not free.
We received a very warm welcome and excellent communication with the staff. After encountering numerous road closures, which weren't mentioned by reception over the phone, we were finally able to reach the hotel. Nighttime access, with instructions and codes, is very easy. It was clean despite its significant age. A kettle is provided, but without tea bags or herbal tea. The hotel is outdated: creaking doors, crumbling bathroom walls with falling pieces, a leaking bathtub screen that floods the room, a broken TV, no blankets, a closet without doors, and poor Wi-Fi. It's a shame; if renovated, this room would be superb and functional. The breakfast was nice, with good quality products. Compared to other hotels, it's expensive for the limited variety of food offered.
Well-located hotel, pleasant welcome, good breakfast, a pleasant stay in St Etienne
We had stayed at this hotel 7/8 years ago and had good memories. Not the case this time, the room was dilapidated and poorly maintained / work is needed, the wallpaper is faded / the tiles are peeling off... initially, the person in charge of reception on Sunday afternoon was not at her post / it was impossible to reach her by the number left at reception on the answering machine ... / we had to wait 45 minutes ....

Young woman at the reception, polite, smiling, efficient, overall very professional. I would say that this person is the only very positive point of the stay. Room not very practical without air conditioning, dark and noisy (noisy street), with a cleanliness leaving something to be desired, with many broken elements, poor quality television (very small size and poor sound) with few channels. I spent two nights there, during these two nights I was not able to sleep because of the heat and the lack of air conditioning, as well as the noisy street impossible to leave the window open. The WIFI did not work! I clearly regret my choice!
Hello, out of 5 rooms booked, only 2 were OK. In the family room 300, the sink and bathtub were blocked, making it impossible to take a shower with the children in 30°C heat, which is not normal. In the other rooms, the bedding and bathroom had hair and smells coming back up. The only positive point is that the host is located in the city center.
Friendly welcome, affordable prices, parking (€8) for 30 hours in the city center. You get what you pay for.
Despite the improvements made to the bedding, the bathroom remains very poor. The toilet isn't even fixed, and the flush needs replacing.
The three main doors creak (entrance from the bottom, from the top to enter the establishment then that of the room) no air conditioning in the rooms to avoid in the summer and unfortunately a TV but no channels available. Otherwise very good bedding and a good welcome from the management.
Very helpful staff (they were so kind when I lost my key) and a comfy bed and a nice breakfast. There is also a handy dining area to use if you choose to, say, have food you have bought when you tire of restaurant food.
