I received a very warm welcome and discovered a lovely, comfortable, well-decorated, and clean room. The restaurant was beautiful, and above all, the dishes were excellent! Of course, everything was homemade. I would gladly return. See you soon, Mr. Carlier
A supposedly three-star hotel with no reception (you have to go to another location across the street to get your key), where a freight elevator serves as a passenger lift. A cramped room where the toilet is in the same room, behind a glass partition, and the TV is completely broken. Breakfast is mediocre at best.

Nickel Good welcome and services
On the way back from a motorcycle road trip, we stopped for one night at the Relais des Capucins. We received a very warm welcome and a garage was made available for our three motorcycles. The staff is charming and met all our requests. The room for three that was made available to us was simple and clean but could do with an update, as could the bathroom. We still had a good night's sleep. The breakfast is varied, plentiful, and good.
This hotel was quaintly older style French with chalet type rooms off from the main Hotel building/restaurant, they were nice & the garden at the rear of the main building provided fairly secure parking for our motorcycles.

This is the second time we've been back from vacation and we're delighted. The welcome was very friendly, we walk with a cane and the person who welcomed us carried our luggage and even took our little Yorkie out to do his business. We had a great dinner at the restaurant and the service was friendly. The breakfast was very good, with superb homemade cake and brioche. We've decided to make this our stopover every vacation. It's the first time we've had such a wonderful welcome and such kindness and attention.
Quiet hotel, yet within walking distance of the center. Spacious and modern room. A plus is that it has a restaurant where the food is good. A pleasant stopover on the way back.

The Hôtel des Capucins in Avallon is a very quiet establishment, perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The room is spacious and the bathroom is really nice, which makes for a pleasant stay. On the other hand, the staircase leading to the rooms could do with a little updating, and the pillows, too flat and a little hard, don't offer optimal comfort. For motorcyclists, the parking space isn't really suitable, which can be a problem. As for the food, there's nothing to complain about: the meal was excellent and the service was particularly attentive.
Overall excellent! Friendly welcome, the staff are helpful, service-oriented and kind. This matters a lot when you are tired after a day's travel on motorways.

Very nice hotel, comfy beds. A pity that the weather did not allow us to use the internal patio to dine, but still the experience was overall very positive. Drawbacks - you have to close the windows and turn the airco on, otherwise too noisy from the street.

Hotel was welcoming and our room was extremely comfortable and had air conditioning. Rooms were on 3 floors with no lift and access via a spiral (of sort) staircase.. Small private hotel parking at the rear but lots on the road. Pleasant meal in the restaurant but ‘different’ - odd!

Ontbijt is goed maar niet bijzonder. Er was geen restaurant verder eten in een ander hotel of in een heel duur restaurant..
Very nice evening stopover... a stop to remember
Welcoming, professional, good food, parking place, comfortable room and a very nice town to take a stroll before dinner. After a long day of driving it was great to have dinner in the garden.
An overnight stop on the way to Paris. The dinner was very nice, with excellent food and service. The bedding was very comfortable, and we were able to bring our little dog along with us, a plus.

Very good value for money. The only possible problem was that we were on the 3rd floor without an elevator, with the luggage... but physical exercise is good for your health, right? Especially when you've had a good meal 😉

Really great
I visited this hotel 25 years ago with my young family on our first trip to France. We had good memories of this place. Today I visited with my daughter and granddaughter. Once again, it was a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It’s hard to travel with a baby but they helped make it happen.
Weinig op aan te merken, alleen 57 treden naar de slaapkamer (met bagage) waren wel veel gezien onze leeftijd (bijna 80).

Very good, the restaurant music was a bit too muzak! Otherwise it was great.
I stayed in a room located in the annex building. A small point to note: you have to cross the outdoor courtyard to access the restaurant and the breakfast room, which can be a bit of a hassle in rainy weather—it was for me. The indoor parking is quite limited in number of spaces, but there were few cars that evening, so I had no difficulty parking. As for the food, an excellent surprise! Dinner was delicious, with well-presented and tasty dishes. Breakfast was also very satisfactory: varied, plentiful, and of good quality.

We had booked their least expensive room but after being led up three flights of stairs we asked for another option since we are old folks. For an additional 18 Euros per day we got one of their garden rooms up only a half flight of stairs and convenient to their parking area. Well worth it for us.
The hotel is an easy walk into the old part of Avallon which is a very pleasant small town.
Good central location and car parking on street as well as within hotel grounds. Breakfast very good although somewhat cramped when busy, very satisfied with main dining room and quality of food/choice. Bedroom of good size and amenities adequate.
Steep spiral staircase proved somewhat of an effort for my wife and I (late seventies), especially when carrying suitcases.
"Bienvenu" was a foreign word for the team - the distant politeness was not inviting - when a very large dog defends the small breakfast buffet (with the boss's approval) the appetite disappears
The long overdue renovations of the room and bathroom have not yet progressed to the third floor. I therefore consider the price for an attic room with a small window measuring 40 x 60cm to be excessive. We were not offered a free private parking space, instead there are free parking spaces on the street. The dinner in the restaurant was excellent, however.

The staff is very welcoming!! The bedding is comfortable. On the other hand, the bathroom is extremely small and the smell of sewage in the pipes really makes you want to vomit. It is dilapidated and expensive for the quality of the room. On the positive side, they accept pets.

We had booked late and therefore got two attic rooms. The third floor can only be reached via a long spiral staircase. Difficult and certainly with luggage. The rooms were very small as was the bathroom. Otherwise neat and stylishly furnished. If we come back we will ask for the more spacious rooms in the annex.

Never. Very old building, mostly cold water during shower and WiFi didn't work. The hotel ignored our complaints.
The room was very small, uncomfortable and old throughout. Reachable by a spiral staircase which is unsafe especially with luggage. The bedroom door closed and opened with difficulty. In addition to this, we paid for a superior room and were given room 201 which, as shown on the hotel website, is a standard room (of very poor standard). To my observation on our booking of a superior room (and for this type we paid) I was told that room 201 is a superior room.

Very warm welcome, pleasantly surprised by the restaurant, value for money cuisine and very pleasant outdoor terrace. Breakfast also good, disappointed however by the quality of the bedding and the dilapidation of the facilities.
The room was a little small and there was a lack of shelves in the bathroom to put our things on... this nuance is largely compensated for by the bedding which is great! The breakfast is no less on the mark, it is rather plentiful and very varied. Finally, the value for money is perfect.

I informed the hotel that I was arriving around 10 p.m., the welcome was perfect. My room was clean and spacious with a few small drawbacks such as the noise of the air conditioning and a slightly inclined toilet bowl... It was calm, the area was quiet and my car was parked on the boulevard without any problem.

Unfriendly welcome...
The welcome on the 1st day by a very friendly lady but then the next morning an extremely rude man… The 3rd floor not great for children with luggage. And the cast iron radiators which make noise at night too.. but then on the 3rd floor the ceilings are extremely low?? We hit our heads every time... then air conditioning in one room and fan in the other so dilemma between noise or heat 😥
In het restaurant liep een grote hond rond een husky dat kan gewoon niet ,en misschien goed bedoeld we zaten nog niet neer en we werden al aangesproken wat we wilden drinken , en de menukaart werd direct onder onze neus geduwd en eens de drank op de tafel moesten we al weten wat we gingen eten , en er werd alleen maar Frans gesproken ik denk dat het verantwoord is in een restaurant dat er teminste ook Engels gesproken word.
The staff is satisfactory. But the breakfast buffet advertised on Booking.com was, to put it mildly, worthless?? A small Brie, some jam, there is so little cheese in France!!! No sausage plate, no scrambled eggs, no fried bacon, etc. If we had known, we would not have booked the hotel. Many thanks. Best regards, W.Sprenger
