The hotel is well located, pretty and charming. The staff was pleasant. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our stay. The room was unusual and comfortable, however the bathroom was difficult to use: very low ceiling, temperamental flushing, and a very narrow shower with a shower curtain that needed to be completely replaced. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the food. Our dinner did not live up to our expectations, with a wait of over 45 minutes between courses, without the slightest word or apology, followed by flavorless dishes and desserts.

The restaurant food evening and breakfast very good. However, room round back via road walk was unbearably hot with tiny Velux window and fan not able to alleviate heat problem. Plugs hanging from lead from wall seemed a bit dodgy. Nice bathroom

On arrival we were warmly greeted, assisted with luggage and helped to find our room.
The hotel team were charming and professional including a housekeeper who kindly gave us a missing hand towel.
Room 101 was peaceful and extremely comfortable especially the spacious bed, fine linen and pillows. The best of our 10 day holiday in France!
Dinner at the hotel was excellent. We enjoyed the different entrees and main courses; the Paris Brest patisserie was amazing.
We have no hesitation in recommending the hotel although room 101 has low beams so not suitable for tall people.
The hotel lift was very useful and free parking opposite the hotel appreciated.

We had a nice stay in this historical town. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel provides a lift to the rooms. The bedroom and bathroom are well laid out .

The hotel is very well located in the city center, but we appreciated the tranquility. Dinner on the terrace in the square, punctuated by a theatrical performance, was very pleasant. The staff is very friendly and efficient.

Ultimately, the stay was pleasant, even though it didn't start off very well: the room assigned to us didn't match what the website advertises as a twin room. Furthermore, the shower wasn't working properly, but the manager was able to resolve the problem by offering us another room that did meet our expectations.

Ideally located in the historic heart, in a 17th century building, one can only be seduced by this charming hotel. The room, in addition to being beautiful, was clean and spacious, and nothing was lacking for our comfort. What I really appreciated, in addition to the freshness, quality, and deliciousness of the dinner and lunch, was the friendliness of each member of the staff, thank you for your welcome.

Our room on the Richelieu tavern side is very noisy, both in the tavern and especially in the morning, the cars on the cobblestones. The restaurant was very good. The smell of gasoline from the old pump is unpleasant. But there are plenty of other places on the terrace.

Poorly equipped room, only one power strip, a skylight that doesn't ventilate the room, stuffy in good weather, old-fashioned bathtub. On the other hand, good meal, excellent breakfast, and a great team, which more than compensates for the small flaws in the room.

Hotel is situated in the beautiful town of Richelieu and is in a lovely position on the town square. We only had one night but that was the same night a a music event which was great fun and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

Check in was good but felt pressurized to book a table for a meal, which we did. Turned up initially 15mins early so we had a drink outside. then went back in approx. 5 mins before time to be told by person in charge that he was still eating, but young assistant took us to a table. Waited for 25mins but no one came to ask if we even wanted a drink, never mind our meal order, so we walked out as the Manager was about to eventually come in and take our order, at which point we told him he was too late. interestingly thee was another guest with his daughter outside who saw all of this and asked if we were not impressed with the service, which we said we were not! Instead we went to another restaurant and spent 100 eu there. We are not impressed, why state we should really book then NOT BE AVAILABLE at the time we agreed?

What can I say...very disappointed. A nice welcome, of course...but that's not all...Room quite small. Lack of maintenance: hanging wall light, mold on either side of the window; toilet seat not suitable for the bowl, missing glass shelf under the mirror above the sink...dirty external shower seals...This establishment does not deserve to be classified as three stars. In terms of food, I would say it was okay, nothing more for dinner and breakfast...especially the pre-baked bread served...it's a bit light all the same.... I should point out that the stay was made as part of a smartbox....that explains everything...???

A beautiful hotel within the walls of a beautiful walled town.
We were made very welcome on our arrival and shown to our room very efficiently. We had booked dinner so almost immediately went in for that.
I charged my electric car overnight and the lead would not disconnect from the charger. The staff member on duty in the morning could not have been more helpful contacting the supplier and getting the lead disconnected for us.
We had two dinners on the hotel, both beautifully presented and extremely well cooked.
We have already booked our next stay in this wonderful little gem.

our room was in a small annex of the hotel, quite noisy, we thought we were in the hotel, we regret having been made to pay the full price as if we were in the hotel when the annex has nothing to do with it a reduction in the price of the room would have been appreciated and justified we will look for another means of accommodation next time

Superb place, everything is perfect, from the welcome to the bedding!

Standard room that does not appear on the hotel website, terrible soundproofing, annex building without light, TV that does not work... and skylight that does not close all the way. Having unwittingly taken advantage of Black Friday at the time of booking certainly generated this downgrade. The opportunity of the evening was too good not to take advantage of it... it's understandable!

We were terribly disappointed. If you book a room, make sure of its location, the hotel is 2* and not 3. We slept in a building on the street behind, the entrance to this building smelled musty and the light in the stairwell did not work, the room had nothing to do with what you can see on the site, the bathroom was dilapidated, with cracks in the walls, no soundproofing (we could hear all the conversations in the neighboring rooms), the flush was leaking, the toilet had brown traces of limescale, the light did not work, ... In short, we will not go back but above all we paid 30€ more than friends who had a much better room and with breakfast! I think we had paid for breakfast but the person at reception refused to serve us breakfast and told me that it was not part of the room rate paid! In short, not very honest

really very good, the only small downside was the automatic switching on of the lights in the entrance, not very practical when one of the occupants gets up at night and goes to the bathroom!! maybe a small curtain to hide the light between the 2 spaces would be a plus! But otherwise, comfortable room, extra comfortable bed, lots of space in the room. The meal at the restaurant was excellent and at a very reasonable price for the quality, it is a stop to do again, especially since the staff is very pleasant. Very nice hotel with character. It is very well located and offers a very nice view of the square, the hotel is also very quiet. The welcome was very good and attentive. A point of progress for the carpet in the room which is very stained it would deserve a change and the color of the skirting boards (green) contrasts with the room which has character with a rather beige atmosphere. The breakfast is correct and good.

We had a very good evening. A meal with very good products and refined cuisine. A spacious and comfortable room.

We went to this hotel through a smartbox box. We had to pay extra compared to the value of our box, but we did not regret it. Good reception, not having been convinced by the menus offered by the few restaurants in the area, we had dinner at the hotel and we did not regret it either. Careful and refined cuisine, even for the burger. The breakfasts are plentiful and varied. The only remark that comes to mind perhaps concerns the windows of the rooms which overlook the main square, which would deserve double glazing. Not that the noise from the square is really annoying, but a few individuals with noisy engines would deserve that we look at the soundproofing, because we were woken up quite early in the morning, otherwise everything else is perfect for this hotel which dates back to 1632 ..... another remark that comes to mind, the WIFI connection which did not work despite the password. We didn't talk about it because we were only staying one night.

Our room was extremely small there was insufficient space tp open the bathroom door easily there was insufficient drawer and hanging space to enable us to unpack properly. On arrival and during our stay we saw nobody in reception and we originally had to gain access through the bar

It has become very rare for hotel staff to show you to your room, but this is the case at Puits Doré. And what's more, the receptionist carries your luggage. What more could you ask for?

The hotel has aged a bit and seems a bit sad compared to the photos on the website. They found the family who were eating at the hotel, my son asked if it was possible to put an extra chair so that he could stay with his cousin. Instead of finding a solution, he was told that it was not possible, because an extra chair was in the way. I think that a good hotelier would have answered, the room is too small to add a chair, however I suggest you sit at the table which is located outside and I will prepare a quick meal for you

We had an amazing stay, particularly thanks to the brilliant staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and help us with everything we needed, for example sorting out some late food for us when were delayed arriving after the restaurant was closing. We also loved the surroundings - Richelieu is a fascinating walled town and the square is in a beautiful town square, perfect for an outdoors meal in the evening.

Quick welcome at 7:30 p.m., the restaurant no longer accepts customers from 8:30 p.m. The room rented for €99 under the roof without air conditioning with a small skylight that is difficult to open. The bathroom is old, the toilets dirty and dirty. The breakfast room is poorly arranged, terrace cushions scattered at the reception and to finish with the announcement of our deplorable night, we smile at you! Avoid!

Beautiful hotel in a historic house

We were disappointed with the dinner, especially the main course, the fish and the very dry side dish, too much rice and not enough vegetables and tasteless. Room 203 is very old...especially the bathroom, the shower tray is moldy in several places. After adding 50e on a box and choosing a *** we expected much better.

The welcome and service from staff was exceptional. During every conversation the staff took time and effort to ensure customers’ well-being. It was very much appreciated.
They provided a Very Comfortable bed in an airy and attractive room with a comfortable amount of space in the room and en-suite.
The pillows were too springy and bed sheet not ironed but these were minor points as we brought our own pillows.
The lighting was from bedside lights and there was no central light which meant it was dim when it got dark and we both struggled to read.
Conditioner and body lotion in bathroom would have been nice and 2 coffee sachets and no milk or sugar etc was disappointing.
The breakfast was a buffet and had variety and the coffee, although from a machine, was good.
A good blues rock band were playing which made the dining experience fun. We both chose fish and the rice and stuffed mushroom accompanying it was delicious. My portion of fish was disappointing - very tasty for the first few mouthfuls but then a temperature change and a very rubbery section - with more than 8 largish bones was weird so I couldn’t swallow it and left it.
The glasses of white and red wines we tried were very good and we’d recommend them.

We were bothered by noise from the nearby bar until about 2am and by snoring from the next room (poor soundproofing). Otherwise, everything was good: very attentive staff, nice hotel. Note, when waking up, the pleasant smells of cakes and madeleines emanating from the kitchens

I booked this hotel via a Smartbox box to celebrate 1 year of relationship with my husband. I find it a shame to belittle your service under the pretext that we went through the Smartbox. And the response from the Google comments is unacceptable. Compared to the others, I don't understand.

I don't know what the rest of the hotel is like but my room had a dirty carpet in very poor condition. Impossible to take out your shoes calmly. Double room: 3 windows overlooking 3 streets/different views It is definitely worth booking the most expensive room. Our stay was very pleasant after 2 days of work. The team is very professional and attentive. Special thanks to one of the hotel owners who kindly drove us to our meeting, as we had forgotten to book a taxi in advance... :S You must try the restaurant, it is very good!

I wanted to thank all the staff for their welcome and their kindness. The hotel is very comfortable and very clean. In terms of cuisine, nothing to complain about, excellent value for money. We were 13 people for our mother's 74th birthday and à la carte. Tasty food, cooked just right, beautiful presentation. Good choice of wines from the Loire Valley... Very nice discovery and the most charging station for electric cars in front of the hotel that you can reserve when booking your room!!! Wide choice for breakfast buffet. A big thank you for this wonderful time spent with you!!! I'm looking forward to seeing you again!!!

Absolute gem! A lovely restored piece of history in the market square with free parking right outside. The evening menu featured local produce cooked to perfection and the breakfast buffet was the best we have had! This hotel ticked every box for us and the welcome was especially friendly with the English-speaking host rescuing us from our poor effort with the French language - well, we tried :)

You can go there with your eyes closed🫣 All the ingredients are there for an excellent stay🥳 We will come back with great pleasure🎉

Excellent address! Beautiful 17th century building (like this whole "new town" desired by Richelieu), ideally located a stone's throw from the entrance to the gigantic Richelieu Park. Parking right outside, on the main square. Beautiful, comfortable room, very well equipped (large cozy 160cm bed, however a little too soft for my taste...). Very varied and qualitative breakfast (hmmm the homemade omelette and local mature cheeses!). Great kindness of welcome, and management felt very "square". Well done and thank you!
