Nice hotel and beautiful room. Please fix this: for each shower, I had to run the water for a full 5 minutes before it finally got hot: a waste.
The room was a bit dated, but they're doing renovations. The air conditioning was a little noisy. The breakfast was nice and plentiful. The staff were pleasant.
The hotel is very well situated in the town centre. The room was clean although quite dated regarding decor. It would have been nice to have had rugs by the bed sides As the floor was a hard, cold surface so not cosy. There were bedside lamps each side which was a plus. The view across the road gave out onto the central car park which was an authentic & lively market on Thursdays so you could really get the feel f& flavour of being in the lively, bustling Chinon. The bathroom was a bit jaded with a bath that wouldn’t have looked out of place on The Titanic. At first we couldn’t get the water to run hot & had to let it run for some time until it became hot. When it did, we had the best shower we’ve had in our lives; it was like the Niagara Falls!

The worst thing about the hotel was that our room was on the third floor and there was no elevator. Carrying our suitcases up the spiral staircase was difficult. There was no hot water in the shower. Furthermore, the bedroom and bathroom were substandard, compared to what one would expect from a three-star hotel.
We have stayed at the Plantagenet before and it was adequate. The bonus is the parking opposite the hotel. We were met by a very helpful receptionist but can’t say the same for the departure as numbers of guests were waiting to check out with NO receptionist to help. We, like many others, just left our keys on the desk and left. We had questions that couldn’t be answered without a member of staff present. The bedroom was adequate for a one night stay. The bathroom was terrible. The floor was uneven with a ridge running across the middle. It seems like the bath had been installed the wrong way around so that the taps were not against the wall so the shower curtain didn’t fall into the bath! Never again.
This hotel has a lot of potential but it definitely needs a total refurb. Everything was tatty and smelt musty. We were given a room on the 3rd floor , which was difficult with luggage and old age !
Poorly maintained hotel, questionable cleanliness, cobwebs on the window, cramped room, no soundproofing, dining room worthy of a sad nursing home, in short, to be avoided;

Hotel with a beautiful storefront but deplorable decor. Our room, as it was, was furnished with odds and ends and smelled "old". No shower gel in the bathroom. What a shame, there would be wonderful potential with a minimum of taste. The garden was unkempt.

In the room, the TV did not allow access to any public channel (only CNews). We went to ask the reception to intervene. Response from the two people at the reception: - the first: "I don't know, I don't watch TV"; - the second: "Well, that way you'll have an evening to yourself." So nothing will be done. No desire to respond to a legitimate request from customers!
Very disappointing breakfast. The hot drinks machine dispenses milk that tastes like powdered milk and watery chocolate. Undrinkable. Little choice. Gardens and outdoor staircase are unkempt. Old bathroom. Warm and friendly welcome.
Did not have record of our reservation in their system and so not given the rooms booked many months in advance. Room 39 was particularly grim with uncomfortable bed and lots of broken accessories in bathroom. This is not a 3 star hotel. 2 stars at best. Ended up having to pay €235 v c€160 quoted on reservation. Was this really all local tax?
Complicated from start to finish
Excessively expensive hotel for the service. Old bedding, aging decor worn by time. Breakfast in a dark and smelly room. Breakfast opened at 7 a.m. but unfortunately nothing was ready. The pastries and croissants arrived at 7:45 a.m. Only one coffee machine out of two worked. In short, you absolutely must not experience this! 04-06-2025 GP

Very well located hotel. On the other hand, the breakfast reception was deplorable! No butter at 9:15 a.m. with no solution... Considering the price, we'd expect something else!
Friendly and cozy hotel, impeccable welcome, comfortable bedding, succulent dinner, good breakfast with very fresh products and delicious coffee, attentive staff... all the ingredients for a wonderful stay are there!! In addition, the location of the hotel allowed us to enjoy beautiful walks in the charming town of Chinon without taking the car. Beautiful address that I recommend 😊😊
