A very comfortable and convenient place to stop. Also, our dogs were very welcome.
The restaurant was very good for dinner and a nice breakfast.
Initially, did not find the electric switch to operate the blinds in the bedroom (a label would have helped)
Conveniently located along the A28 on the way to Bordeaux. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on Sunday evening. In that case the hotel can reserve a table in another restaurant. Free parking on the market.

Excellent cuisine in the restaurant at a reasonable price with a wide wine selection. The room was comfortable with everything one needed. The hotel itself is looking a little tired but this doesn’t really detract from the excellent service we received. This was my second visit in 2 years and I will certainly come again as it is the perfect point to reach from any of the channel ports after an early boat.
This was our second visit to this friendly establishment. Too bad the restaurant will be closed on Sundays next time.

Lovely courtyard and hospitality at this hotel. We were stopping overnight on our way from the ferry to our campsite. The hotel was peaceful and the room for our family of four was spacious with proper beds for our teenagers and some privacy for us. It was a little musty when we arrived first, but that cleared quickly. We would definitely use it again. The town was very pleasant as well, and we also managed to experience a little of the Saturday morning market before we left!
An old hotel happily renovated, calm and comfortable, even offering a small swimming pool to cool off in. The welcome is very friendly and, even if the table service, provided by a fairly young staff, still seems to require a little experience, the cuisine is pleasant.

I often travel from Germany to the Iberian Peninsula with an electric car and have already decided to stay at le Grand Hôtel twice when I had a stopover planned. The hotel offers good service and excellent value for money. The restaurant is very good and you can easily charge your car at night in Montval-sur-Loir. What more could I want?
The bike formula is a very good idea; the management and the staff are very attentive and give good advice (for wines in particular); we appreciated the very varied breakfast and the dinner (on a super nice terrace) was perfect, full of flavors and originality, (with that little extra fresh aperitif mignardises); the room is also very good; we will probably return, for all these reasons but especially for the food, we really enjoyed ourselves.

We enjoyed staying at the grand hotel but our experience would have been enhanced by better information, eg labeling of all items on offer at breakfast (jams, juices, types of cheese). Similarly, we expected fresh supplies of tea, milk etc in our room to be provided as a matter of course on the second day and were surprised to discover we should have requested this to happen.

From the moment of booking by telephone, I felt the know-how to properly welcome the customer. A detailed quote arrived quickly in my mailbox upon booking. The room was comfortable, clean and well equipped (two nights for our stay). The breakfasts are continental with fresh products and at a reasonable price (which is not always the case in some hotels). We enjoyed (that's the right word) an excellent dinner (the chef is probably a chef). Finally, the staff is attentive and pleasant, which is why my rating is almost perfect. It lacks one star for the heat in the room but that is not really a disadvantage because the air conditioning is effective and discreet.

Our only disappointment was the lack of anyone on reception when we arrived. The waiter dealt with us well but no one offered to carry a heavy case up the spiral stairs. We are both over 70………not a good start.

Easy to find from A28, great location with a few restaurants on the square outside the hotel although the in house restaurant looked great. We were lucky enough to be staying there for the Saturday market which was fabulous (puts UK markets to shame). Lovely building and accommodation in keeping with its 3 star rating. We would definitely stay again.

This is the second time we’ve used this hotel. Stayed for one night to break up our journey, location is great to slide off the A28 hotel about 10 minutes away. Although 99% French speaking hotel, they give you a great welcome and all the info you need. Didn’t eat in the restaurant this time but can recommend it (if you can read the menu 😉). The rooms are spotless and very comfy, they have everything you need and are good value for money. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay.

Correct overall but expensive for the services. The room assigned to me (No. 25) was not supposed to be the most beautiful in the establishment and did not deserve, in my opinion, the 3 stars displayed. Note that the room was clean and properly heated which is becoming rare, windows equipped with roller shutters which is very good. Decent decor, mini bar available, free bottle of water. The bedding so-so... The wifi absolutely did not work in my room. None of my equipment detected the hotel network. The shower room is clean but needs serious renovation. Shower head leaking everywhere too bad.

Pros: Excellent beds, spacious bathroom, separate toilet, very spacious room, very good location. Negatives: no sitting area in the gigantic room. No handles in the bath, very dangerous for older people. A beautiful staircase, but difficult to access because a handrail is missing on the wide side of the staircase.

The warm welcome
Every thing was fine except the room was on the second floor with no lift. Elderly guest may struggle trying to reach the room. Tried to get a lower floor room without success. Shower floor very slippery.and could be hazardous. No private parking only public car park on payment.

The three of us slept in a family room during a trip between Marseille and Brittany. A very pleasant stopover, the village of Château-du-Loir is not lacking in charm and the hotel is clean and comfortable. To advice!

Despite a central location in an urban environment, this hotel is conducive to rest and sleep. Very nice renovation, a spacious bedroom and bathroom, welcome drinks. Not negligible: a fridge (+ free bottle of water), a welcome letter. The floor is modern parquet which is an asset in my eyes. The staff are friendly and polite. The receptionist is available and answered my questions. The car park is on the square with the indication of limitation to 2 hours (from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) each day.

Lovely hotel, clean bright room and great breakfast with fresh orange juice and produce in a nice breakfast room. Dinner was fine although a bit too heavy with sauce and cream for my taste, lovely service.
No lifts, could be a problem with baggage for some. Parking just opposite very convenient, free weekends, but what would happen during the week, as its paid 2 hrs?
Overall a great place, would return, have recommended already.

Room on the ground floor and inner courtyard in a quiet and air-conditioned area. Good bedding and spacious room for people with reduced mobility. Only downside, access after 10 p.m. because the direct access is closed and you have to go through the reception and its walk with the very heavy door as well as the slippery floor in the shower.

I slept and ate twice in the hotel with a small and a large group. everything was perfect. This hotel is renovated, clean, tastefully decorated. Excellent table, varied breakfasts (nice assortment of teas), very quiet room overlooking the courtyard. Be careful in the shower with very aggressive soap for the eyes.
Room 20 is like the hotel, that is to say in its own juice. I find it unfortunate that we offer a stopover evening on Monday evening when the restaurant is closed and therefore obliged to dine in the partner brasserie on the side with questionable hygiene in view of the black grease on the walls of the earthenware of the kitchen and the dim light of the dining room.

The rooms in the main building are of better quality, room 1 in the courtyard, a room for people with disabilities, lack of comfort .....
