Overall positif but not so happy with the fact that I saw a lot of guests with one (big!) or even two dogs.
So most likely in my room there were also (before me) dogs in the room!

Very friendly and very helpful staff, especially the girl at the reception who knows how to organize everything very well: reception, departure, table service with these colleagues, checkout. In short, everything was fine without discussion.

A lovely hotel in a former castle – a welcome change from chain hotels! Excellent dinner. Breakfast was adequate, nothing special. Still, good value for money. The negative reviews from some are really unjustified given the services offered.

Beautiful place but needs a major renovation

Very good hotel, but a few details to point out: the parking lot isn't next to the entrance; you have to walk a bit along a dirt path, which isn't as pleasant when it's raining. I was disappointed with the shower, which didn't reflect the quality of the room.

The setting is pleasant, with a lovely dining room and a large bedroom, but the small desk makes it difficult to work. The breakfast selection was disappointing, but the bread offered was of excellent quality – crusty and fresh.

Room with a chemical smell when we arrived, stale air! We found eight chemical deodorizers distributed and well hidden in the room, we took them out of the room and tried to sleep with an open window. The next day, after an absence of 5 hours we found the room with smells of toilets, sewers, an indescribable stench. We had to insist for a new room, much smaller, without a bathtub .... And on request we were offered a reduction of 8 €, but who are we kidding? If you can avoid this hotel, do it!! Too bad it is in an idyllic setting but unfortunately cleanliness is not their strong point!

The price of the room is a little high considering the age of the room.

We added breakfast for €16 per person. The quality and selection weren't worth it; scrambled eggs and bacon weren't available, and the containers were empty. This was certainly due to the fact that only one employee was responsible for breakfast, as well as for reception and payment of departing guests. The bathroom had a large window facing the courtyard. What we found very unpleasant was that there was no curtain or similar covering over the window. The view into the bathroom from outside was unobstructed. Very negative.

No lounge in the hotel, for a relaxing read or coffee.

We had to leave the hotel because the room we were given was unsanitary due to the humidity and a strong smell that made us sick. No TV signal, no wifi, faulty air conditioning and very poor cleaning... For 140 euros a night and with the "Logos de France" validation, I expected better.

The hotel, the room, and the entire complex are very nice. The food was also excellent. Unfortunately, I received an incorrect invoice via email, which I cannot bill to my company. I emailed the hotel three times, requesting a corrected invoice. I didn't receive a single response to either of these emails. It's a shame, because I was actually very satisfied with my stay.

Very professional and friendly staff. Very nice establishment. We had a great time! The pool is a big plus and the setting is very relaxing.

A priori nice hotel but clearly lacking staff! A young person for arrival, departure, setting up breakfasts, the buffet, clearing away, etc. The pillows taken out of the cupboard smell of sweat and dirt. Only one seat in the room instead of two. Breakfast buffet: a half-eaten slab of butter instead of the obligatory micro-breads, no more bacon, no more jams, no more pastries, no more cheese, no more cold cuts. We had to set the table ourselves. In short: terrible value for money!

Great replacement and infrastructure, only downside, breakfast was not very well restocked if you arrive after 9 a.m.

It's a charming place, with a view of the vineyards. Impeccably clean. We were pleasantly surprised by the value for money for the room and meals. Dinner in the park was much appreciated during this heatwave. We will happily return.

The condition of the rooms is substandard. The tile joints are sealed with caulk. The air conditioning is very noisy. The shower head is too low, you can't even stand under it. Overall maintenance is substandard. The double bed is very small, 140 cm wide.

Catastrophe! Poorly managed. Upon arrival, the staff smoked cigarettes in the customers' garden area. Then, no staff for a drink in the pool area. The room was poorly maintained: "limed" shower head, wobbly bathroom shelf. Water bottle without glass. Radiator in the dirty bathroom. Evening meal without "cheese". The chef went on vacation!! As for the breakfast buffet, then there... Nothing! Two jars of jam spilled, butter shared and not individual. All the customers were dismayed by the lack of. Everything.

Enjoyed our stay

The hotel definitely has a lot of potential. But it's showing its age and is in need of renovation. It was inadequately clean, as it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The light switches and bathroom were so dirty that it was hard to use them. The reception was unsympathetic and uninviting. The restaurant was closed, and the elevator was broken. The gardens were poorly maintained. Overall, it doesn't meet the three-star standards. The coffee at breakfast was also not good, as the coffee machine wasn't working properly.

We stayed one night at this hotel and chose it for the evening restaurant service. Unfortunately, it had to be closed for exceptional reasons. We were directed to a nearby restaurant (15 min. by car) where the meal was very average. The morning buffet breakfast was okay, nothing special. The room and bathroom were of a satisfactory standard. Very little storage space, good bedding. The best thing about this hotel: its green surroundings and its swimming pool. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

In the evening, a large disco party was taking place below the hotel rooms by the pool, making it extremely loud. Sleeping was impossible! In the morning, the breakfast buffet was very modest and unkempt. The napkins were wet and dirty. Some dishes were missing. We spoke to other guests who had the same experience and also found it unacceptable. After complaining extensively, we received a reduction in the total price.

Had to wait a long time for our drinks and food during dinner. Starter was lukewarm, main course not as agreed, dessert ice cream was melted. All in all very disappointing. Expectations were high after our experience last year in May!! We will not come back!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nice and the rooms are in good condition. We were very disappointed with the breakfast, as well as the vegetarian menu in the evening. The prices in the restaurant are rather high.

Beautiful terrace for meals and breakfast. Friendly and attentive service at dinner. Buffet breakfast with a selection that wasn't extraordinary but was very sufficient. Good value for money. Ample parking. All very quiet. We will be back!

Beautiful location in a wooded park. Beautiful terrace, beautiful pool with beautiful amenities. Ample private parking, professional, attentive, and friendly staff. Good food. The menu could offer a wider selection of Beaujolais wines, therefore local. A nice little detail: the hallways are decorated with pretty landscape paintings that are not reproductions. Quiet location. Worth the stay.

The owner and his team are super friendly. It's so cool to have dinner and breakfast facing the park. The swimming pool is a significant plus.

Magnificent in every way!

Overall, the hotel is very good, except that the security of your Wi-Fi connection is compromised, because after connecting to your network, my personal email was hacked. Since then, I have been bothered every day because I have to deal with attempts to change passwords all day long.

Good. An experience to be repeated in the summer when the weather allows you to enjoy the pool and terrace. The bathrooms need renovation. The television only offers about ten DTT channels.

I assumed that the hotel was being renovated, the common areas and the bedroom area would be finished, except for the bathrooms? The taps are hard, old, the bathtub drain no longer works and the water flows with difficulty, after removing the closing nozzle? A lampshade was missing and one of the other two fell off. A professional kitchen. Overall the establishment is very decent.

Nothing but the dust that covered the office area, a sign that the room had not been occupied recently.

I didn't know you could find shower curtains in a hotel...?!...not very hygienic.....and no hair dryer... on the other hand, the restaurant was excellent.

First time in this hotel and positively surprised by the "business accommodation" formula with overnight stay and evening meal, excellent and varied. Small idea for the service in the efficient and fast restaurant, but which lacks the French service touch more specifically the way in which the dishes are served from the right and cleared from the right of the table, with a little note on what is served. Being alone at a small table the food and wine arrived from all sides and a little too quickly. But with a big smile. And between the dishes from time to time a little comment hoping that I liked it. So superb. Forgive me, being in the after-sales service, I may seem exaggerated, but personally I am always happy with the criticisms that can be used as leverage to improve the customer experience. Dining room slightly too cold. The neighboring tables were commenting on the chill

Heating and lighting in the room were very inadequate.

Expensive without breakfast included. There is no clear information upon arrival. Breakfast cost 15€pp but the quality is not as good as the breakfast at other hotel for the same price. We were clearly misled by the staff, as we asked about breakfast, they let us have it before telling us that it was not included in our room rate. On the other end, our booking details mentioned that breakfast was accessible at the hotel. This was very confusing. We were also asked to pay a tourist tax which we had not been informed about prior to our stay. We were not given any details about wi-fi access.

Nothing to say about the welcome, very friendly girls But the disappointing room, a quality of cleaning that I do not recommend at all, dust everywhere, unstitched sheets, hair in the shower bathtub, a quantity of dust accumulated to wonder if the vacuum cleaner was used before our stay. For the price of a night and for a surprise birthday for my husband I am really disappointed.

Very warm welcome. Very pleasant and quiet location. A good table. Well-appointed and friendly exteriors. Be careful, however, of the cobwebs a little too present for my taste in the room...even during the Halloween period.

I paid €204.50 to booking.com on June 18, 2024, and was charged again on October 20 with €329.50. I expect an immediate refund of this double payment! Barbara and Jürgen Voss

The four of us arrived at the hotel on a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the kitchen was closed that day.

Very Nice hotel. Bathroom is outdated.

No elevator available and due to being less mobile, our room on the third floor was changed without problem to a room on the first floor. Toilet separate, but very small.

Unfortunately the room and hotel were cold, The air con season had come to an end, and the heating did not adapt to the weather.
We feel that guests should be permitted to drop off their cases at reception before leaving their car in the distant car park, and not greeted with the "Pedestrian Access Only" sign at the beginning of the road to the hotel. Not at all convenient when raining. The food and service were good and of the expected Logis quality.

That room had the only toilet I've ever seen. When you sit on the toilet your knees touch the opposite wall.

Excellent dinner. Staff friendly but struggled to serve a full dinning room. Bedroom was large with comfortable bed but it was a wet day and the room was cold. Fortunately we found an extra cover in the wardrobe. The lift seems to be permanently out of order. Fortunately we were only up one flight of stairs.

Pleasant overnight stay in a somewhat rundown hotel

The building is beautiful and the quality of the bed linen and beds is excellent. However the reception was disappointing. First, we had to wait an hour longer than advertised to check in. The staff were unwelcoming. The lift was out of use and no one offered to carry our bags up to the third floor, despite our ages (65 and 75). My husband ordered breakfast the night before and found no place had been laid for him. The room was small but adequate but small things would have made all the difference e.g. toilet rolls instead of a dispenser (which immediately makes you feel like you’re in a public toilet), glass bottles of fresh water rather than plastic bottles of Evian, etc. Overall it felt impersonal and corporate, and a sense of portion control with little generosity in manner or substance. A shame.

Nice place for stop over

Very nice rooms, the park was perfect for our dogs. The food and wine were very good and the price-performance ratio was right. About 4 km from the motorway, which was perfect for us as we were just passing through.

Outdated deco but overall ok place . Quality of service could be improved. elevator not working and staff surprised I ask them to take the luggage down.

As in other Logis de France hotels classified as "GOURMAND", the meal does not live up to the dishes with the big names on the menu. Both at the Moulin d'Hauterive (Saint Gervais en Vallière) and at the Château de la Barge (Crèche sur Saône), we were served frankly mediocre dishes (e.g. ratatouille of pre-prepared and/or frozen vegetables served indifferently with all the dishes). We also wondered with which dishes to taste the famous (and expensive) wines on the wine list? This lack of culinary quality is unfortunately more and more frequent in the Logis de France hotels that we frequented precisely for the gastronomy until now. And we do not understand how these aforementioned hotels can end up with the same "GOURMAND" classification as the excellent chef at the Moulin de Saint Vérand (in La Roche-St Vérand). If the quality of the sites is always well announced, Logishotel should urgently review its classification of restaurants which increasingly often leave something to be desired.

Dit is een zeer goed verzorgd "Kasteel Hotel " met een fijn restaurant. Wij waren hier op doorreis naar het zuiden en is ons goed bevallen. Helaas was er geen WiFi. Althans, het stond nergens aangegeven.

the setting and the staff are wonderful

Dit was voor ons een tussenstop. Wat een heerlijke verassing. Zalig op het terras een aperitief, eten buiten onder de grote bomen. Heerlijke keuken. Een aanrader!

Depending on the type of reviews and the detailed critiques of the hotel, you are not sure about the choice. Je ne comprends absolument pas d'où vénnent les mauvaises critiques. The hotel is easily accessible, disposes of a large private parking lot and constitutes an elegant maison. Les nouveaux propriétaires depuis novembre 2023 des investi massement dans la piscine. The air-conditioned rooms are excellent. The dinner is excellent with a large choice, especially for the petit dinner. The personnel are very sympathetic. Those who have been edited by negative reviews have unfortunately done us no good. Because there were both very good and bad reviews of the hotel, I had doubts about our choice. I absolutely do not understand where the bad reviews come from. The hotel is easily accessible, has a spacious private parking and is a beautiful stylish house. The new owners since November 2023 have invested heavily in the swimming pool. The air-conditioned rooms are excellent. The dinner is great with a wide choice which also applies to breakfast. And the staff is very friendly. Those who wrote the negative reviews have wrongly made us doubt.

Un excellent lieu pour se détendre au solarium ou dans la piscine à l'écart des villes. Le restaurant est à la hauteur et d'autres restaurant proches peuvent aussi convenir. La climatisation fonctionne très bien. La zone salle de bains est correcte. Le petit déjeuner doit être amélioré. Le personnel aimable et très à l'écoute. Le WIFI fonctionne bien. Globalement très bien pour une ou quelques nuits.

Top quality

I'm a regular visitor to Crêches, but this was my first time at Château de la Barge. It was a huge disappointment. As soon as I entered the room, my eyes were drawn to large, dusty cobwebs. Two large spiders were lined up right next to each other. The toilet bowl was grimy, the sink was stained and old, and the vents were clogged with cobwebs and a good number of dead midges. The light switches were dirty, as was the edge of the toilet door. There was no soundproofing. I was woken up by late arrivals from neighboring rooms, by doors slamming, and in the morning by the sounds of toilets flushing and showers, which we could also hear our neighbors talking. The breakfast we had on the terrace was equally disappointing. The fruit was dried out and rotten. The pastries, mini crepes, and pancakes were disgusting. The cheeses and hams were rubbery and tasteless. The pool liner was dirty and the sunbeds were worn out. And to top it all off, we were eaten alive by mosquitoes...

The hotel and room were very good. The restaurant and food were good. Although the young waitress spoke no English and was a little short with us. On checking out the following day again the receptionist spoke no English and we understood that, for some reason, we could not have an itemised bill and were just presented with a total figure. She proceeded to read the items, but not the costs. We then realised we had been charged for a different (more expensive) bottle of wine at dinner. She couldn’t change the bill and had to get a colleague to help, who also seemed to have trouble rectifying the error, but she assured me she would email the itemised bill to me. We checked out at around 9am on Friday, it is now 3pm on Monday and I have still not received the bill. We have stayed at Logis hotels for over 30 years all over France and I have never had to pay without an itemised bill. The hotel seemed quite newly renovated and obviously has quite a young team in place, maybe it needs a little time, but I would certainly hesitate to book this hotel again.

Beautiful room in a wonderfully beautiful rustic ambiance, friendly welcome on a Sunday. Please note that the restaurant is closed on Sundays. There is a board available with baguette/ham, etc.

A beautiful comfortable room, the meal was very pleasant. On the other hand, we were both surprised by the welcome and the service. When we show up for dinner, we are not said hello, and it is the only pleasant person in this establishment, who greeted us upon our arrival, who places us authoritatively at a table. The wine we chose no longer exists, we replace it with another much cheaper one, but it is the first one that we are billed for. Breakfast is served in the restaurant room, again no reception...I realized when I saw the customers moving around that the buffet was located at a distance, in another room. The pastries are not cooked, there is only one hot drinks dispenser and the wait is long because there are many of us. The car park is far from the hotel, and the path in the pouring rain is very difficult, it is muddy and has many puddles. We arrive at our car soaked. This establishment needs to “break in”, we will come back in three years!

Parking the car 200m away from the hotel is very inconvenient. Luggage has to be carried over such a long distance. There should be a way to drive closer to the hotel for loading and unloading.

Everything was perfect, the only downside being the breakfast, which didn't offer fresh fruit, only one type of bread: a croissant and a pain au chocolat, with no local products. It's a shame, as the dishes were placed about 1.5 meters away, inaccessible for children or people with reduced mobility, and located more than 10 meters away from the dining area. Otherwise, all the other services were excellent.

Kamers niet goed schoon, achterstallig onderhoud, liftdeuren gingen niet open toen we eruit wilden, badkamer gedateerd, mooi groot zwembad met zonneterras, vriendelijk personeel, kwaliteit ontbijt niet geweldig, kwaliteit restaurant goed, styling van het hotel kan beter, de foto's geven een rooskleuriger beeld dan de werkelijkheid is.

Very sparse welcome with explanations, we let you sit in the breakfast room without explaining to you that the buffet is held in an annex room. Trash not emptied in the room on my arrival. During the meal, you are not presented with the correct menu corresponding to the evening stopover, even though you announced that you were on the evening stopover...
