We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel! It’s small and very cozy, with a nice renovation and everything you need in the rooms. The grounds are beautiful, with a lovely garden and pool. The hosts, Emma and Kathi, were incredibly friendly and welcoming – they gave us great advice and were always very kind and helpful.

Beautiful house, and property, everything looks nice from far but after closer look, furniture in the room feel cheap, desk is not usable to work, tableware from ikea. Breakfast was nice but nothing impressive, not much fruit,
Just one type of eggs (my bad, i did not ask the staff for anything else) shower entrance is very small, cant really enter easily, bathroom amenities limited and no place to store shampoo ect. all room doors are slaming Cleaning the breakfast area 30 min before the end with a lot of noise not really paying attention to people still eating. Bed comfy, view is amazing, park is well design and swimming pool is private. However the swimming pool is impossible to access if knee pain as the stairs are really narrow and steep. Overal, a lot of potential but far fromreaching expectations of a 4 stars

Let's begin with the beautiful chateau, delightfully renovated by owners Kathy and Eric set in the quiet village of Palaja approximately five kilometres from Carcassonne. The place is spotless, everything works and the owners are always available with helpful considered advice. Many hotels and Airbnb establishments could do well to try and adopt a similar approach to their customers, cleanliness and maintenance... Chapeau Kathy etc Eric! Our stay was simply wonderful, we really enjoyed in the beautiful garden fantastically perfumed by an abundance of flowers and herbs (see pictures), or relaxing by the pool after our daily excursion sipping a variety of local wines and beers. The breakfast was first class, with local jams, cheeses, charcuterie, eggs etc..and of course delicious buttery croissants and a variety of french breads from local bakeries. The restaurant next door 'S Comme' is well worth a visit, we dined there on our first night which and thoroughly enjoyed the experience Our room was well decorated, spacious, clean, everything worked from the heated radiator to the air conditioning, great shower... I really cannot say that about many places. Very importantly the bed was very comfortable!!! We really benefitted from the change of rhythm, which was a total contrast from the chaos and stress of London; by the third day we were so relaxed that we found ourselves dozing at every opportunity!! A warm and professional welcome. The managers are attentive and will assist you during your stay if you have any questions. The room is very clean and the bedding is of good quality. The green setting is very pleasant. A very pleasant stay, and I'd love to repeat it.

Perfectly situated Hotel to visit Carcassonne. The room and bathroom are finished to a high standard. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Tea and coffee freely available. One of the best continental breakfasts we have had in a hotel. A bonus having a very nice restaurant next to the hotel.

Decent hotel Small room without a coffee machine (which is often found in a 2 or 3 star hotel) and which seems essential in a 4 star hotel. The terrace in front of the restaurant could do with being improved, it does not encourage people to go to the restaurant. The price of the hotel is very reasonable, more in the range of a 2/3 star hotel. Breakfast price a little high, €15. If you cannot make fried eggs in the absence of a kitchen, a device for making soft-boiled eggs is essential.
We were very well received by the owner who gave us good advice for visiting the surrounding area. The building is very beautiful and very well maintained. Located in a quiet area, it is very enjoyable... a nice stay

A lovely start (one night) to our holiday in France. Cathy (?) was very friendly and helpful and at very short notice ensured I had gluten-free options for breakfast. Wich was very much appreciated.
Very pleasant setting, easy to access, very warm welcome, very friendly.
A nice surprise. At first glance the (small) 'bed and breakfast' aspect may be surprising for people used to more sanitized hotels but the owners are very pleasant and in the end we had a pleasant stay ideally located a few kilometers from the medieval city of Carcassonne . Two small drawbacks, however: the sink and especially the mirror are placed too low with the light obscuring the head as soon as you exceed around six feet. Otherwise for charging an electric or hybrid car it is not a charging station but a reinforced socket (remember to take your 16A cable). I personally used the charging station located in the village 500m away on foot and which works very well. The place is very quiet with no noise at night apart from the church chimes which are absolutely not annoying.
From arrival to departure the Chateau is a delight. The hosts could not be more helpful providing local information and advice. The restaurant is not open on a Monday ( at time of writing) but we were offered a platter of local cheese and charcuterie for supper as an alternative. It’s a wonderful place to base yourself to explore the region. The restaurant is also excellent and recommend you book so as not to be disappointed. Chateau de Palaja is a special place and we will return.

We made the mistake of choosing this place as a "passing through" hotel, which is far under what it deserves.
We would recommend to choose this hotel for a not "speedy" experience as ours.
The surroundings and Carcassonne deserve it !
