In the heart of Dinan, the Hôtel de la Porte Saint-Malo stands proudly as the silent guardian of centuries gone by. This timelessly elegant building faces the Porte de Saint-Malo, one of the four major entrances to the medieval town. In the 1930s, these stone walls housed the cider factory "Au café de la Commune Libre", as well as residential accommodation. Although the past history of this illustrious building remains shrouded in mystery, this enigma only adds to its captivating charm. Chez Yvette" was then born. An emblematic bar and a favourite stop-off for Dinannais on the way to the Fontaine des Eaux secondary school. The visionary Yvette later transformed the adjacent spaces into bedrooms. She then warmly welcomed travellers and holidaymakers. Today, under the direction of Roxana and Kevin, the place is entering a new chapter. Between them, they represent the fourth generation of hoteliers to run this heritage hotel. Over time, the former bar has given way to a boutique hotel.
Following renovation work, the establishment shines with a new lustre, while delicately preserving its original essence. Traces of its illustrious past, such as the majestic granite fireplace, still bear witness to its former splendour. Dating back to the 16th century, the hotel is proudly listed in the Mérimée architectural heritage database.
Behind its ancestral facades, the Demeures et Châteaux Hôtel de la Porte Saint-Malo reveals seventeen discreetly elegant rooms. As soon as you enter, a soft, refined atmosphere embraces you. Perhaps it's the grace of the imposing granite fireplace or the beams that blend delicately with the decor. Every nook and cranny of the establishment exudes the medieval history of Dinan, while enhancing its old-world charm. Completely renovated, the rooms are decorated in soothing, neutral tones. The shades of beige illuminated by flashes of white create an atmosphere that is both sober and welcoming. Every detail, such as these antique headboards reminiscent of old windows, adds a touch of finesse. This interlude of serenity is equally suited to families, with quadruple rooms, or couples, with double rooms. Some also have a patio where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of a summer evening. Enjoy a gourmet board and a glass of sparkling cider in the shade.
The establishment also has gardens and patios where you can enjoy an intimate atmosphere. After a day of walking, you can enjoy the peace and quiet over an aperitif. Un superbe séjour de deux nuits. L'hotel est idéalement situé, accès en direct à pied à la vieille ville de Dinan ( les magasins, les restaurants, les maisons à colombages etc). Nous avons été magnifiquement accueillis, les hôtes sont très attentionnés et toujours à l'écoute.
