Very friendly welcome, I highly recommend it
Smartbox offered by our children: 3-day gourmet getaway with 2 nights, 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners, but it is no longer a hotel restaurant but an apartment hotel so no dinner, we had to pay for 2 dinners extra... room decent but bathroom outdated.
A really great team, very competent and pleasant!
Nothing went as it should have! In your 2026 guide, the maximum price per night is €92, but we paid €306 for 3 nights. The hotel's condition doesn't warrant a rating; it's very outdated and lacks sound and thermal insulation. I would like to be able to provide you with the photos I took. The price is over €100 per night, especially considering the bedding isn't of hotel quality, the towels are threadbare, and the bathroom... I didn't shower because I don't usually shower with rust everywhere. We were near a ski resort, so the latest departure time was 10:00 AM, and the vacuum cleaner was running in the hallways from 9:00 AM. Not everyone goes skiing, and we're in a hotel to relax and unwind! Over €100 per night!!! Furthermore, the sign says restaurant/hotel, but it's now just an aparthotel. We didn't end up staying; we paid over €300 but only stayed one night. It was my husband's 50th birthday, and I'm so disappointed—you can't imagine how much! Money is hard to earn, but so much more enjoyable to spend on life's good moments, but frankly, I feel like I've been ripped off, to put it politely!
Excellent welcome, very professional and attentive manager. Impeccable stay both in terms of the room and the breakfast. The only downside: limited shuttle bus access to/from Le Lioran
Our stay was too short to fully explore the region and enjoy the sunshine. The warm welcome and kindness of the hostess will make us want to return when the weather is nicer.
We were very disappointed with our rental. The room looked nothing like the photos on the website... the decor is very outdated... The bedding wasn't comfortable, the French doors leading to the balcony were warped, letting in a strong draft. Accessibility is poor with many stairs. The soundproofing was very bad.
Bathroom in need of modernization
A very pleasant hotel, the room was well heated, and the hot and cold water was also very welcome after a day of skiing. The staff were very friendly and gave us a tour of the hotel upon arrival. The raclette evening was also an excellent idea (it just needed a small dessert to finish the meal).

The hotel is very old-fashioned and could use some refurbishment.
This aparthotel is very welcoming, with Laure at the helm as receptionist. Laure takes excellent care of you from the beginning to the end of your stay. She's a real gem who knows all the best spots in her native region (restaurants, hiking trails, traditional mountain huts, events). Don't bother searching for her on your search engine; it won't be as effective.

A hotel without hotel services, but the price is. A 5 euro supplement for cleaning during the stay is shameful. Room not soundproofed. Bathroom from another era. Reservation by email confirmed for 3 p.m. on the confirmation email, reception only open at 4:30 p.m., with no room for negotiation.

We came for a weekend in June with family, the establishment was almost empty. Very warm welcome with smiling and pleasant staff. The setting is pleasant, calm with a river nearby. No restaurant but possibility to heat up local dishes made by a partner in a shared kitchen, an original concept. Local drinks are also offered (sodas and Auvergne beers) which we recommend. Comfortable rooms with a modern bathroom and XL bedding. The breakfast is varied and of quality, served in a friendly room. Small downside on the packed lunches which we found basic (ham sandwich, butter, egg, fruit, bottle of water). Only the homemade cake was out of the ordinary. A Cantal cheese sold on site among the local products would have been appreciated in this basket for example. We emphasize the kindness and professionalism of the employees who were at the top!
We spent 4 nights at this mountain-facing hotel in the fully renovated room 12. FYI, there's no restaurant, but meals are cooked to order.
It's a shame we had an old-fashioned bathroom. Black joints and drainage problems. Perhaps because we booked through Smartbox. Our neighbors had a modern bathroom. And the hotel was far from full.

A well-located hotel with a great view and a very good breakfast. The hotel has access to the river. However, the shutters don't black out at all, and the room isn't very soundproof.
Ideal location, with free car parking, and access to the fast tracks by shuttle or by car. View of the mountain from the room, with a very pleasant little balcony. A garden also accessible and giving access below to a watercourse. The room is old-fashioned but this did not spoil our stay in any way. The staff was very pleasant and gave us a very warm welcome/return.
Fairly clean hotel, very friendly welcome. Good breakfast. Good bedding. Nice view of the mountain. On the other hand, very noisy, since the neighbors were especially noisy (loud music, TV on late and loud, doors slamming) You can hear everything that goes on!! Bring earplugs to sleep... We would have liked a hair dryer in the bathroom.
Despite the rather pleasant and welcoming staff, I did not appreciate the dilapidated state of the place. The room was not insulated, it was rather cold although the heating was on full blast. Not great with a 3-year-old child. Be careful, there is no elevator, this is just a small detail but it can be important when you are loaded down with a young child. In addition, I had taken the option at 10e per day for breakfast, out of the 3 days, there were 2 days when we could not have any savory food (egg / ham), and one day when there were no pastries. The batteries in the remote control did not work. The positive point remains the proximity to the LE LIORAN resort, and the parking (be careful going down or up to get there if it snows a lot).
It is just a pilgrim hotel but at double the price. Unacceptable value for money. The decor of the room is from the 80s as well as the infrastructure. No socket available for smartphones or tablets except for the one in the sink, access to the toilet is very complicated because the door touches the bowl. Despite the heating, 16° is the max. The room overlooks the street with heavy truck and vehicle traffic and does not have opaque curtains. Do not look for a hair dryer or soap, one is non-existent, the other is almost empty. Moreover, do not look for something to have a hot drink because there is no kettle or coffee maker in the room. We also understand the need for the table/desk which is used to carry the TV and not to work. A TV that must not be moved too much because of the false contact of the antenna. If I go to Lourdes for the St. Jacques de Compostelle route, it would be sufficient but not at the price of a €99 box with only night and breakfast. Despite the kindness of the receptionist, the cleanliness and the payment on smartbox of a purchase of 69€ for an additional night... we preferred to leave this hotel after the 1st night.
We booked a double room in the Griou hotel which according to the photos was a nice and pretty room and you moved us to the Rocher du Cerf hotel because there were not enough people in the other hotel. I asked for the room to be equivalent but however this was not the case, we have a small room with old carpet on the floor, a very dark bathroom, a smell of humidity, no more battery in the TV remote control, a lot of noise in the hotel early in the morning ... We are disappointed with the stay

Even if the rooms are a little dated... Everything is clean. The staff is exceptionally friendly. The food is regional and tasty. The breakfast buffet is good: bread, baguette, ham, cheese, fruit and much more. The coffee machine for various coffee preparations is worth mentioning.
