this is probably our 5th or 6th stopover at Le cheval blanc. It has a great atmosphere and we will always come back to repeat the pleasure we get from our overnight stopover on our way back to the UK. It is a most distinctive and well run hotel.

No fresh croissants for breakfast (even cheap motels have that in France)! Only filter coffee, no Capuccino. Dinner was quite bad, « filet mignon » was just normal filet. Similar issue with rie de veaux (not a complete piece). Really seems like the kitchen is saving money. Conclusion: It’s a tourist trap.

A very comfortable hotel in the historic town. We wished we had had more time to explore but we were just overnight en route to the French Alps. When heading south, the hotel is about a 15 minute drive from the Autoroute and it's even easier to rejoin the autoroute when continuing to the Alps. A very comfortable room with twin sinks in the modern bathroom. Dinner was also good with typical French cuisine on the menu. We will definitely return!

An excellent stopover en route to Geneva and then south into the French Alps. Was highly recommended in the UK Times in a weekend supplement in July 2018, and we were grateful for that. Quite a few English couples were staying at the hotel while we were there. Essential to book a table ahead if you want dinner when you arrive though - glad we had!

We enjoyed our stay, most especially the food.We did not however like our room in the dependence and would have preferred to be in the hotel building.

Voici l'avis que j'avais posté sur Trip Advisor ;-)'De retour de vacances dans le sud, nous avons fait escale dans ce bel établissement, trouvé via Logis de France. Nous avions réservé une chambre à deux lits (on nous a attribué la n°9, qui est, en fait, une suite familiale en duplex), elle donnait sur la rue mais nous n'avons pas eu de souci du tout au niveau du bruit. La salle de bain avec baignoire/douche est très moderne, la literie est parfaite et l'accueil de tout le personnel extrêmement professionnel, que ce soit au niveau du service hôtelier ou du restaurant, que nous avions réservé en même temps que la chambre (réservation indispensable, à ce que nous avons vu, tout était complet...). Le service voiturier est un plus indéniable et sécurisant (les véhicules sont dans un garage fermé, ce qui est très pratique car vous ne devez pas vider intégralement vos bagages si vous ne restez qu'une nuit...)Nous avons pu profiter d'un repas vraiment excellent et de conseils avisés du maître d'hôtel pour le vin, le tout avec un excellent rapport qualité-prix.
Le petit-déjeuner buffet était également copieux et varié. Les amateurs de vieilles pierres et d'architecture seront ravis car l'établissement est une ancienne abbaye et a été restauré avec respect et un goût très sûr. Nous y reviendrons sans hésiter!'

We have been to this hotel many times before and we are satisfied. The only thing we have felt before and specialy this last time, is that we are rushed a bit during dinner. We are served very quick and we had the feeling it was a bit too quick. It looked like the personel wanted an early free evening.

The hotel is in a good location and the building, terrace and restaurant are lovely. The room fittings are slightly tired, and it could have been better ventilation prior to our stay. The restaurant food was over-complicated and arrived lacking in flavour because it appeared to have been kept hot for too long after cooking (?) and the dishes seemed very expensive compared to other places we have eaten recently. However, the staff were all great and the guy on reception was also friendly and helpful.

An extremely good hotel. My slightly negative comments on the restaurant reflect that we did not enjoy the meal and particularly the service, which was correct but somewhat impersonal, as much as on previous stays. These comments apply to dinner and not breakfast, which was extremely good.
