Restaurant la Marjolaine

La demeure est magnifique, mais la chambre était plutôt vieillissante.
Pas de dévidoir pour le papier toilette, l'applique murale des toilettes n'est pas complète et l'ampoule est totalement découverte. Présence de trous dans murs.
Le rideau ne ferme pas correctement et la fenêtre ne comporte pas de volets.
L'isolation acoustique n'est terrible non plus.

Magnificent site but small problem in the room above the trash cans with a lot of odors even with the window closed. No coffee pods in the room and impossible to call from the site, no network. It's a shame because the welcome is perfect and the staff are charming.

Spacious parking, good reception, well-kept rooms and common areas. Comfortable bedding. Calm atmosphere. A downside for the poorly performing wifi.

Very nice service, magnificent place, calm and warm, very welcoming and attentive team.

Just avoid the classic room with a 140 wide bed, plan for a comfort room.

A real surprise to find this great hotel out in the countryside

Having stayed at La Marjolaine on a number of occasions over a number of years and having enjoyed our stays there to the extent that we have recommended it to friends we were disappointed to notice the continued reduction in the standard of bedrooms. When we first stayed there the bedrooms allocated were in the main building and were of good quality. Over the years the policy appears to have changed and in recent years the rooms allocated have been in what they term the chateau. While these are larger than the rooms in the main building the standard of the facilities, decor and service's have declined markedly. This year the curtains would not draw properly and the complementary tea and coffee service was to all intents non existent as there were no sachets of coffee powder, no tea sachets and no creamer or milk. On bringing this to the attention of the management a member of staff appeared with a handful of Earl Grey Tea (which is not a very popular type) sachets. a handful of sugar tubes but no coffee sachets, creamer or milk. There was no apology for this considerable shortfall. Frankly, while the dining room may still provide its formerly very good service and quality, we were not able to judge this as we were staying there for Sunday night only, The breakfast on Monday morning was satisfactory.
Sadly in our opinion La Marjolaine no longer deserves its Hotel Elegance listing in the 2023 Logis guide

Very warm welcome in a very pleasant setting. Only the WIFI deserves to be more efficient because there is little mobile network in this very quiet place.

This hotel is a rare find- an elegant, peaceful chateau in an exquisite setting, yet for a moderate price. Many rooms are in separate buildings set about a park among mature trees and lawns. Ours was in one wing of the chateau, overlooking the river Mayenne. There is direct access to the river towpath for walking and cycling.

A beautiful château in fabulous grounds. Lovely pool area. Excellent restaurant. Friendly staff.

You don't really feel welcome. If you don't speak French you won't be taken seriously.

Wonderful stay

Lovely tranquil atmosphere, all the staff are super friendly and the hotel rooms are clean and tidy. The food in the restaurant was amazing too! Can’t fault this place really! May be my new favourite! Would definitely stay again!

Waiter absent 30 minutes of waiting for a poor terrine of fish, it was necessary to ask three times to have the drink waitress who does not say a word by depositing and taking back the plates. For a so called 'tasty' restaurant the service delivery is poor The food is certainly not bad but lacks work

As soon as you arrive in this house you will be amazed by the chatelain setting that the site offers. Spacious and bright room, attentive and accommodating service. Very quiet site along the Mayenne. Gourmet breakfast even if the price is a bit high (12€).

A cold and borderline indifferent welcome… In short, when there is a group; we are invisible.

As a guest at La Marjolaine over many years, except the past 4 years due to illness and the Pandemic, my wife and I were delighted to find it just as we remembered it from past visits. very good attentive service, a pleasant quiet room, very good facilities, particularly the swimming pool which was most welcome after a long hot drive from Amboise and finally a very enjoyable dinner to round off the day. Thank you to all the staff at the Marjolaine for making our brief visit so pleasant.

Sublime setting, spacious and comfortable room, located on the ground floor with access to the garden + access for people with reduced mobility. Extra restaurant (evening stopover), very pleasant and smiling service. Only one remark for improvement = too weak light above the sink in the bathroom. To make up it's a bit tight...

Setting and staff at the top just lacks air conditioning in the rooms.

When we arrived reception was closed and there were no messages left as to our room. Tried contacting by phone but only recorded message hotel was closed. We went and found another hotel.

A very chilly reception from the receptionist dressed as the chef(?) . Mediocre dinner with an even more modest breakfast. The room was in the older building that lacked character and warmth. It seemed as if we were an inconvenience rather that paying guests. We won't be staying again.

This establishment no longer serves meals in the evening, but to help us out, the boss offered us a cold meal: excellent. We were doing the francette no restaurant around we appreciated the understanding of the hotelier.

Warm welcome, very correct staff. Immaculate restaurant. For the room I am much less enthusiastic. Wallpaper in the WC very very torn, bedroom window a bit dilapidated. Lack of water bottle in the room. Room door that lets in all the light and not enough space in the room.

An exceptional establishment both in terms of French gastronomy and accommodation, which is located in a magnificent setting. The welcome and the service are really warm. An essential place when you discover the North Mayenne. Dominica
