Welcome to La Belle Meunière in Royat, 5 minutes from Clermont Ferrand city centre, and close to the major motorways. Christine and Laurent Jury welcome you to their charming house. On arrival, you’ll love the magnificent glass roof, built in 1900. The dining room is decorated with mouldings, stained glass windows, and features an elegant contemporary stained glass fresco, combined with designer furniture with seductive lines. Laurent Jury serves up cuisine made with local seasonal products, giving pride of place to the Auvergne’s lands. The hotel’s rooms each have a different theme in memory of the historical characters from Auvergne, where particular care has been given to the details: period furniture, statues, trinkets ... while offering every modern comfort.
This grand 1900 estate, which has made its mark on history by housing the secret love interests of general Boulanger, welcomes you in a light dining room divided into two areas; a Haussmannian room and a wonderful sun room created in 1910. To the natural elegance of the place – moulding, stained glass, etc. – a few tables set very elegantly are added, which sets the tone, with a little cherry blossom flower from Japan laid out like an emblem (on the menus, dishes and even on the jacket of the chef), showing the passion the chef has for Asia. This faraway destination can be found on one of the set menus of the restaurant with a series of creations which combine the two lands – Japan and Auvergne. It is the region’s produce which gives colour to the menu, through inspired and exquisitely presented recipes. It is a cuisine with a distinct identity, both generous and perfectly mastered (great cooking) with snails cooked with cepes, subtly dressed with a pleasantly sharp herb jus and traditional boar escalopes with a Grand Veneur (red wine) sauce and wild blueberries from Auvergne. The homage to the region continues with the cheese board, which heads off the beaten track and a wine list which strives to highlight the local crus which deserve recognition.
